It is just the game idea... for players who are intermediates or better and are a bit bored of playing the stock designs.

All PRT-s are allowed but race design has lot of rules starting from lesser traits. Most rules are very logical i think. Rest of the rules... there i just ban all the stock numbers and settings so it is out of box.

Exclamation One may not take IFE without taking CE too. Its logical they squeezed all out of their engines so now the engines obviously fail sometimes. Wink One may take CE without IFE however. Cool

Exclamation AR, PP or IT must take ISB. These guys have tinkered out so powerful orbital devices or outright living in them why they did not pay attention to hull? Sure they did.

Exclamation CA must have ARM and may not have OBRM. They can terraform remotely, they must be at top doing anything remotely. Wink

Exclamation If someone take TT he must have UR too. UR can be taken without TT of course.

Exclamation JOAT cannot take NAS. How can be there NAS to guys who have advanced scanner inbuilt in any scout? Same with PP, they have pen scanner in any packet so it cannot be they have NAS. Same goes with SS.

Exclamation Any race has to have bleeding edge technology. The technology companies simply sell the top edge stuff twice the price, nothing to do there.

Exclamation Gravity immunity is banned to all but AR Immunity to gravity? Rolling Eyes There cannot be such species that ignore gravity without living in orbital. OTOH AR must be immune at least to gravity. If you are in orbital ... why you care about gravity?

Exclamation Growth rates 19 and 18 are banned ... for HE growth rate 6 is banned.

Exclamation Pop efficiency may not be 1000 or 2500. For AR it may not be 10.

Exclamation Factories may not produce 5, 12 or 15 resources.

Exclamation Factories may not cost 7, 9 or 25 resources.

Exclamation There may not be 5, 16 or 21 factories operated.

Exclamation 10 mines may not mine 10 minerals.

Exclamation The mines must cost something else than 3.

Exclamation One may not have about as lot of mines operated as factories... that is if you have 15 factories operated you may not have 14 15 or 16 mines operated. The difference must be 2 at least.

Exclamation Weapons may only be 50% cheaper to races who take GR lesser trait.

Exclamation On the other hand no space faring race may be clumsy in researching propulsion. It may be 75% more expensive only if everything cost 75% more for that race.

All other suggestions and comments welcome. Smile I would first like to hear if you are interested and what you think of such game.

I am not starting to host it right now bit too busy maybe month or two later... but the idea has been for some time so if someone wants to host it just tell. Oh yes the game setup if i host it ... something more usual maybe like:

Galaxy size medium (may vote)
Galaxy density dense (may vote)
Player positions distant.

Number of players ... 10 or more.

Slow tech advances.
Accelerated BBS Play.
Galaxy clumping.

Victory ... only one may win by consensus of others or by highest score at turn 150.

updated ISB and ARM rules

Exclamation 10 mines may not produce 10 resources.

Should that be 10 mines cannot produce 10kt of minerals?

BET I find is hard on nubs, course this might be a good idea as well, might give them an intresting time trying to build these things, AR is extremly penalized as well, allow the 10, find something else, and why should you take UR if you take TT? makes no sense.

TT and UR go hand in hand because you are an enviromental freak!
You want to have absolute control over the enviroment ( = TT), and since normal scrapping and recycling leaves toxic waste everywhere on the planet you improved it ...

BET is hard on nubs - and hard on AMP.

Which means do you take the range 1 433 damage beamer? or stump up for the AMP? Or go for the Mega D and get a range advantage?

It opens up alot more end game questioning of your ship designs. It also makes the majority of tech you'll be using end game come alot earlier. BB's at tech 13 doncha know Wink

As for AR... I'm quite interested in playing AR with these settings!!!!!

Everyone has to take screwy hab/fact/mine settings. I can take my 25 eff with an AR race and then go either 19% growth 1/4 with grav immune or go to 17% growth bi-immune. Take GR and weapons/construction/energy cheap and then dump everything into energy for the first X turns.

I'm assuming that for AR races there will be other forced features??? I mean if IT and PP have to have ISB because of their obsession for orbital components - then what about those Ultra stations for AR? I hear those things have some really comfy couches!!!!!!!!!!

wOOt 1

sweet deal if you ask me. Just gotta handle CE if I want the Fuel Mizer.

CA's should probably be banned from taking OBRM too. It is possible to take both, and OBRM would give you some points, as well as 10% bigger worlds.

Thanks for good comments so far. Smile
I will update the post with the no ARM/OBRM combo and AR should get ISB.

Yes, BET must stay. All have it ... so all are in complete "out of box" situation with it.

May happen that CA, JOAT and IT are still penalized too weakly ... i was first thinking to add MA to them but did not find any good excuses doing it. Twisted Evil

Exclamation IT must have MA.

First of all everybody knows of course Wink that the starting gate turns matter into energy while the exit gate "translates" that energy back into matter.
ITs are able to gate their minerals (and pop) because during their "translation process" they can keep the "cargo minerals" seperated from the "hull minerals". (Something other races haven't figured out yet.)
Resources = energy so that must mean they can use their "translation process of turning energy into matter" (I would call it "alchemy" Grin) to also create more minerals out off "thin air" than other races can with their normal alchemy.

Exclamation JoaT must have MA.

The fact that JoaTs are able to have more resources than any other race on a given planet must have a reason! Scientists have been wondering about that a long time: "Why would they need more than other races?" "What is the use for those extra resources?" they asked.
The answer is easy: JoaTs love Mineral Alchemy! And because they can't just help themselves spending resources on it they found ways to improve it.

Exclamation CA must have MA.

This is almost similar to the Joat, because again we have a surplus of resources, afteral CAs don't use any resources to terraform! Yet all those resources are being generated anyway, including all the toxic waste polluting the planet.
This is in contradion what he CA stands for! Generate reources, pollute the planet in the process and afterwards not use the resources for terra? "No way! We will use those resources and we will use them wisely: turning them into minerals." And again to safe the enviroment and keep the pollution at a minimum they were able to impove their Mineral Alchemy.

Better excuse for CA to take MA...

Mines are evil. They drill into the precious mother that is a planet. Therefore using solar energy and other such sources of non-polluting resource production they are able to create their own minerals since mining is the rape of the planet

Hmm... yes obviously IT has learned some secret how to transfer materials and energy. That is best excuse to have innate MA! Very Happy

CA ... they are of course big freaks of materials and environment. Such beings may also develop MA very easily. Smile

But JoAT ... okay i was always wondering why they are jack of all trades. They got no items to trade actually. They even greedily remove their inbuilt scanner from their frigates whenever they sell one as tech scrapper. Confused Maybe the name is because they can turn resources into materials? Rolling Eyes

I am also been thinking why PP has so alien understanding of economy. They literally speaking ... throw their values around. Most carelessly, dirtily, right from the start and at ungodly speeds. MT rarely achieves such speeds. Why? There must be some hidden for my human eyes quality in doing so. Does PP fit with BET? In market economy it is obvious ... items at tech edge are sold very expensive. Prices drop even more than twice in few months. But PP ... may be they are immune to such considerations. Wink

What you think?

That could be right however this is completely contrary to the fact that they must take ARM. Remote miners completely rape a planet, crack the crust and rip it apart to the core! (No idea how any race could live on a planet after it has been remote mined. Grin )

Ah but you see CA races only remote mine "evil" worlds. Planets that are inhospitable - those which, despite all the good CA can do, still do their utmost to kill all life upon their surface. As such these worlds must be stripped to their very core, that cold black heart.

Oh... and of course the minerals from these "evil" worlds can be used to build ships. These ships harness that pure hatred and as such become excellent weapons of war.

I think I could get excited about this one. I'm so bad with economic races that some good old fashioned W16 packets would be like coming home on Friday afternoons. Wink

Count me in when this one officially gets off the ground.
