quick question about the patches

I have the empire interactive version of stars. (it said 2.70 ) when I installed it. Then I found the JRC3 patch and installed that.

And now I have read about a JRC4 patch, but I have not been able to find out if it is for the empire interactive version.

And another thing. I still have not played this game online agains other people, ai only. So are there games still going on here? This game is old, but a classic...can't seem to let it die...I play it every now and then.

And I could probably be considered a newbie, are there any games around that accept novice players?

JRC4 is a server patch mostly. get rid of the SS pop steal bug and a few other things i think.

You can get it from the downloads section of autohost.

It works for every version IIRC.

So I can just install it like the previous ones, and it does not matter if I have the registered shareware or the jewel case game from empire interactive?

The JRC4 beta patch available for download on AutoHost ONLY affects the host. Players will NOT benefit from it. Also, I only have the JRC4 for Stars! 2.6, if you have 2.7, and overwrite with the JRC4 2.6, you will loose your sound in battles.

If you have the Empire Interactive version (v2.7), then stick with the JRC3 2.7 patch. (replaces your .exe file)

If you have the 'registered shareware' version (v2.6), then just use the JRC3 2.6 patch.
