ok I know I havnt been posting much, (thats what paying attention to your GF will do to you) anyways onto my question.... I had recently purchased an optical scroll mouse and of course I went to go play my modified stars game and I knew that you could click the scroll wheel and when I did that in stars it came up with a green line from the planet and it told you how far away a planet was from another planet or something, the only way to get rid of it was to right click, (left click for you lefties) anyone ever heard of thise?

P.S. Im using the J patch

Yes its quite useful
Click near what you want to measure (works for fleets as well as planets) and then you can find how far away it is from anything.

Note - it is better than just looking at the bar that says
"XX lightyears from XX" as you can use it to see how far away "nothing" is (ie I want to put my minelayer right between 2 planets how far is it to that bit of space).

I agree...its fabulous...does anyone know if(and how) you can use it to measure distances to points near objects? (similar to setting waypoints <6ly from a planet)

Not sure if I understand but the starting point of the line always is a fleet/planet/salvage/packet/... you can't use any deepspace coordinates,

Ah! cheers for that Smile I just figured it out...a bit of a hack...but you can measure to and from waypoints. so setting a waypoint where you want to measure would do it.
