Deep Terraforming Probability |

The documentation says a CA will have "up to" a 10% chance of deep terraforming one click per year per world. Does anyone have more details on that? Are the odds 6.7% if one hab parameter is perfect (or immune)? 3.3% if two are perfect or immune? Does the amount of population on the planet matter?

I'm not at all sure.
but I seem to recall a message saying I got a "deep terraforming" say in grav on a world with grav immunity.
Thus I would guess, iirc, that the odds stay at 1/10

I've never played a CA, but I wonder if the deep terraforming has a streak-breaker--the streak here being failures to deep terraform. As well, there may be other departures from true random chance, say limiting it to a certain number of worlds per turn, say 1 or some fraction of your total worlds.
As with any random process, the way to figure it out is to get more data:
1. Year data: number of planets, whether or not DT occurred.
2. Has 2 different environment factors of the same world even been affected in the same year?
3. Has 2 or more worlds ever received DT in the same year.
Get enough data and as m.a@stars says:m.a@stars wrote on Mon, 15 June 2009 14:22 | ...when hunting for low-percent deviations, large numbers are your friends .

I believe that a CA has a 10% chance for every planet every year & that can be for any hab regardless of immunities & even if the planet is already auto-terraformed to 100%. Actually, I reckon you'd get slightly less terraforming than that since the random chance will occasionally hit for a hab that is already perfect.
The last time I played CA I got a 1% improvement on year 2 (year after colonisation) from the first planet I colonised & got another 1% 2-3 years later.

It does seem to be proportionately lower if you've got one or two habs already perfect. According to this thread it's also based on how much pop is on the world; eyeballing it it looks like 0.1% per 1000 pop on the world.
