An update to the StarsAPI:

Message text sent between players can now be fully decoded. Source code found here:

https://github.com/stars-4x/starsapi/blob/master/src/main/ja va/org/starsautohost/starsapi/block/MessageBlock.java

This is the code to do the byte decoding starting at offset 10 (0-indexed). The MessageBlock itself is still missing some info, but most important attributes are there.

There's also a utility in the TotalHost code (StarsMsg) that you can run against a .m or .x file, and it will extract the messages to text.
