SAH 20 year anniversary

Sometime in the last 2 weeks was the 20 year anniversary of Stars! AutoHost. For awhile in the late 1990's, there were 95+ games running on SAH at the same time.

Congrats Ron.
I think I played Stars! since 95 when it came as a demo game in a PC magazine CD.
I played against bots for 15 years till I finally found SAH and this time around, I could buy a serial using a credit card.
I think this was the first computer game I purchased online.
Been here for around 7 years.

I know my minefields.. but I'm a chaff sweeper.
I used to curse when I got stuck in traffic... till I realised I AM traffic.

Yeah, I remember the times when there was a waiting list and thus many games where hosted still the traditional way: a host genning the turns on his comp and then sending them out or rather back then, there were really good email clients and some tricks and batch files to fully automate it.

Thanks for all the hard work. you have built a fantastic resource. I started playing stars in the 90's and spent a big chunk of time addicted to irc blitz games. I have been playing regularly since then with a changing group of about 10 friends(we now blitz with a simple dropbox system). strangely we've never used autohost, the resources that you have collected have brought at least a dozen people that I know a tremendous amount of joy.

It's been a few years since I've been on this forum. I've just dropped in looking for some nostalgia and seeing if there are any pending games.

Came across this thread, and it's great to see the feedback here. I thoroughly agree with previous posts: Ron, through your steady support of autohost and this forum you've enabled many hundreds of hours of fun and friendship across the community, and I believe that deserves recognition and thanks.

I'm keen to donate on the understanding that you're still getting at least half of all donations, and are hopefully getting all funds where the account balance exceeds 1 year's running costs.

It looks like the balance equals about 1 year's running costs, so I'd be glad for you to have the full donation.
