I'm now an aspiring dev-to-be as part of my new 5 year plan, but I don't know much yet. I've got a basic handle on the basics, as in how to work lists, format strings, and make functions. There's a story out there, I'm sure one of many, saying about how helping people on their projects on Github was one way he developed notoriety before getting an actual job.

Would anyone suggest that? If so, does anybody know offhand of any projects like indentation review or something that a novice like me could help on?

Does anybody live in or near Tulsa, OK or Oklahoma City and if so, is their company hiring Junior Devs? Very Happy

Thank you all for any support you could muster (and thank you anyway, it's always fun playing with you).

I would suggest not focusing specifically on GitHub. Find an open source project that's of interest to you, leap into the forum, and try to contribute. Ideally something relatively mainstream (that you'd be willing to put on a resume). Ideally in a programming language you know (or, at least, are intent on learning).

The code might be in GitHub or elsewhere - that's not the relevant part. Best is finding something you're passionate about being involved in.

PS I'll note that "notoriety" is probably not the word you're looking for.
