Not sure what certificates have to do with it as SAH doesn't use SSL. I've heard that Chrome is more picky about security stuff, but the only thing I can think of is that it's handling cookies differently than Firefox.
I know that I need to upgrade the forum software again, and the Chrome login problem will probably go away then. It's just so much work to upgrade, as I really like the look/feel of the forum as it is now, and the work comes when updating the current theme to work with a new forum software version.

As Nmid pointed out:
The password save option in your browser is your friend for very low security login data like forums.

What Ron and Altruist said .
My chrome doesn't even let me log in anymore... I thought there was a problem with my password or I had forgotten it.
Tried firefox and got in fine.
As I got it working, I didn't put in more time to troubleshoot chrome login.
I know my minefields.. but I'm a chaff sweeper.
