Milky Way is finished and I am not ready to start playing another game, but Fast and Silent has also ended so I do have time to host.

4-8 players, small, packed, distant, slow tech, accbbs, no CA, no NAS for Joat.

Max 24 hours between gens through 2499, max 48 hours starting 2499.
[Alternately we could run a schedule like 1200, 1000, 0800, 0600, 0400, 0200, 0000 to get the same 7 gens per week but allowing a larger break on Saturday]

Each player gets 2 hold requests (for the entire game).
Hold requests may not exceed 3 regularly scheduled gens if started before 2499.
Hold requests may not exceed 2 regularly scheduled gens if started after 2499.

Standard cheat disclaimer with chaff, split fleet dodge, repair after gating allowed.
Also, understand the distinction between mine damage dodge (prohibited) and mine damage allocation (allowed).
If there is an infraction, the host will not regen but might enact a penalty of a skipped turn, or if the infraction is grievous the host might do something nasty like alter the offending players next turn (eg deleting ship designs or resetting planetary production queues).

I'd love to play a game, I've just come back to stars after a long break. Even someone to duel with would be great. I would rate myself as an intermediate player.

The community seems kinda dead now, not a lot of activity Sad

Anyone out there, or just busy in long games? Smile

Sometimes I feel tempted to start playing again, but then I remember that about 3 out of 4 of all my previous games saw me get beaten decisively within the first 20 turns, if not beaten during universe generation or race design.
ROFLMAO

Is the game single-victor-only?

Plenty of people out here. Razz

Several games going on at the moment, and this one and another one need players.

I'm sure someone around here will give you a duel...

What we need's a few good taters.

Hi Traceroute,
I have seen your name before (maybe in the rec or irc), or maybe that is a different Traceroute. Welcome back!

I would be thrilled to have a duel with you. I am sending you a PM with details now. I play a lot of duels (~30/year) and my policy is less cut-throat and more for mutual benefit of a learning experience, so I like to share turn files and purports when the duel is ended so that each player can improve.

While the forum seems rather dead, the community is still playing a lot of games and still talking a lot of trash, but many of us seem to be avoiding/neglecting the forums here. There has been some nastiness and ego-mania tainting discussions (I have been super guilty of this in the past); while a few players have been driven off, others are simply sticking to email for communications. Over the last 2 years we have had a decent influx of refuges from the now defunct Polish and Russian sites lurking. The community has also seen some great new innovations in applications for game setup and file sharing, nailing down some formerly esoteric rules guidelines, and we have found a passel of neat bugs to play with.

I received a show of interest for this game idea from 5 players (in the first week), but they were divided on whether or not there should be open communications allowed so it has not moved forward.

I have had plenty experiences dying earlier than I previously imagined possible, so I feel your pain. Each of those games (like hagakure and LIES) taught me some valuable skills though.

If the game goes with no communications allowed, it will be a single victory. If communications are allowed, I will leave it open like a sandbox (I don't care if cats poop in it)._.
