Excluding the obvious (but time consuming) option of asking Ron directly for access to the backups....
A) How many years of backup does auto-host keep for each game?
B) Is there an appetite for an easy way to access the backups for a host?
Having had questions as both a host and a player I wonder if a zip file download of the game backups from the host utility would be a sane option.
EDIT - I should clarify that the time consuming is for Ron.... i.e. lots of people asking him for downloads....

Ten years.
Which is why it's a good idea to have the turns emailed to a new gmail id (just for that game)..
Release the game files to anyone who wants to look at them, once the game is over.
Edit - You would have players who won't like to reveal their race designs/strategies to everyone (apart from the host), so you would need to ask if everyone is ok with it or tell them not to join the game.

It used to be 5, but I changed it to 50, I believe.
Awesome.
I thought you increased it to 10, up from 5, when we were talking about the turn backups of Stone Age Slog.

P.S. Nmid, don't ask, the game info in NOT available to anyone without the OK of all the players in the game
Heh.

Thread at ahf: Idea for a new utility
The utility at the Stars Wiki: Stars! Backup
I use it as a standard for all games I host. Once set up, it backups the whole game without any more work than to download the emails from time to time... saving into the right directory and so on all runs automatically.

I don't have any windows PCs (well, Ok, I have access to a work laptop, but it doesn't run Stars!)
I use wine (on a VPS, connecting with NX)
I use DOSbox on Android, with a hacked 3.11
I'm not a normal case, I know that, but my 'Available' machine is a VPS hosted in a different country. And that will never run an OS from redmond...
