With regard to the MT it looks like I failed to copy the hst file when I copied the m files into the submission directory.

So the hst file was year x, the m files were year x+1. When I force genned it produced a brand new year x+1 and the RNG didn't generate a MT...

Perhaps I'm having a dumb moment.. but it's still unclear.
You force genned, using the SAH util.. If you created a brand new x+1 year (using the .hst on SAH), then how could the old MT message still show in the new game files (that we re-downloaded from SAH) ?
Wouldn't the old year x+1 messages get over written?

I wondered that as well. My guess was that the message appeared because I did not remove the .x# or .h# files I had made using the original .m#. But someone else might know the guts a bit better.

I deleted my H file and reloaded and it's the same, now if you look at all your messages you will see you have two years of data in you box. And when you loaded the game you should have gotten a message of "Two years of Data read" or whatever. I have found the same planets twice Laughing

And the Goto button won't take you anywhere. So we're seeing both the old 2634 messages and the new ones

Further clarification: I uploaded a turn early, then after thinking, changed some small things and re-uploaded later. I've done this many, many times in previous games and never had an issue before with the turn being completely lost.

Edit: There wasn't an ingame message that a turn had been skipped, either. Weird.

For reference, I'm using jrc4 through Wine on a 64-bit Linux Mint system - I don't think that should affect the guts of the .x3 file though, but anything's possible.

Well I agree, I was surprised when all of Coyote's ships where still in one spot after the turn.

Do we have to do a regen?

hi ,

possible tha you have played with the "old" M -File we got first with mail ? Then it is possible that you where in the wrong game.

This time you should delate the m and x file you have and download from the page only to be sure. ( if you dont had )

That I have done. Everyone else's x file should be fine, though i guess they could re-upload if they want. Waiting on the host to take the game off hold.

Okay. I give up. I frickin' give up.

Does anyone else want to take my player slot?

I can't figure out what's happening. There's no skipped turn warning like there should be if the x file wasn't processed, but none of the turn orders are carried out. The turn file appears as uploaded on the AH game page after I upload it, and the game page doesn't show a skipped turn either. And it's not the Emperor Bug. Test games with one player on my computer seem to function normally.

I would have thought it was the same reason given by CC. playing with the old .m file.
Strange the turn restore and a new .x (played from the new .m) didn't work...

When the turn was restored, I assume all the submitted .x's were restored as well?
SAH/Host option.(2634)
Is it possible to delete all the old .x's of 2634 completely, instead of recovering the turn along with the .x's?

Player option. (2634)
Can you upload your new .x (played from a freshly downloaded 2634 .m) and then redownload it to check if it took?
(same file size and if it opens correctly with the 2634 .m again.

Host option.
Perhaps we start from 2640, after a couple of force gens and a new .hst/game file uploads?

Yeah, the second try was with a fresh .m file (which seemed identical to what I had before) and a fresh .x file.

Bob restored the turn again to 2634, seeing you were still facing the same problem.

I was hoping that it was something as simple as using the wrong .m file... even though I sorta knew that you would be careful about it the second time around.

When you download the .x from SAH, do it in a new folder.
Also download the .m from SAH too..
Does the turn load properly?

Edit - I checked when we were on 2635.
I uploaded my old 2635 .x file that doesn't open properly with the new 2635 .m.
It got uploaded fine without any error message showing.

The game host has restored game "HOMELESS" turn "2634" from backup on Feb. 14 2013 23:57 GMT.

Just because part of my job IRL is to ask the most basic questions:

When you saved your turn, did you "save and submit" or just "save"? I'm not sure it matters as long as you upload the turn, but it's all I can think of.

True. SAH doesn't differenciate between the 2 save modes.
However the problem was that not even a single order of his was executed... (not just his second set of commands).

I'm just going stir crazy and I'm going to end up playing my turn again Wink.

Does the size of the uploaded file reported by SAH match the size reported by your OS?

Just to easily rule out an unlikely scenario:

Did you receive any in-game message about being a suspected "usurper" or anything similar?

Hi

have checked with the help of Ron the Log files. Says as i thougt that he is in the wrong game.

So coyote please delate all the files you have of the game.
download the files from the gamepage.
do your turn and upload it.

Say when you have done this and I will check with Ron if the file is ok.

If everything is fine I will informate the host and we will go on.

Ps: you could post here coyote makes it easier for me as i have only my cellphone at work

Thanks for that - ccmaster.

Very confusing from my perspective - even if caused by my own failure to triple check the files before sending...
(And I can confirm that this was the original problem - I managed to submit turns for a different year from the host file. Copy error...)

I can confirm "save and submit", that the file was the correct size, and that there was no "usurper" (emperor bug) message.
So, in order of probability:
Either I somehow messed up the file downloads without (intentionally) doing anything unusual, or my browser wasn't properly refreshing the page somehow (even with ctrl-shift-R hard refresh) and kept saving the same wrong file, or something isn't installed that needs to be (I'm on a fresh OS install as of earlier this week), or AH has the wrong .m3 file available for some reason, or it's something that I can't even guess at.

Our valiant and heroic host has been sent a copy of my new new .x3 file, mmade after I deleted the whole game directory just to be sure and saved files in one with a different name.

Hi ,

the host could not check for this problem , Please load the turn up so Ron could see
if the file is ok.

I will then inform you and the host if we could go one if not we have to search for the
problem.

I think coyote sent the .x to the host, to avoid any jinxes... but as the initial SAH password is set automatically by the server, the host doesn't know what it is.

Hopefully Coyote will check his emails or the forums and upload soon.

Also, I noticed that 2 people submitted after the turn was restored.. possibly getting the advantage of a double year scan data.
Could I request the players/host to confirm if any changes were made from the initial turn?

Edit -
If that did happen, then it would be fair for all of us to change orders and the host should give Coyote scan data of all planets within 100+81 lys from his starting point.

The easy way would be to
> Copy coyote's .m file, the .xy and the .hst file from 2634.
> Set the 5 scouts @ warp9, flowing out in a * asterix (5 equal split spokes) from Coyote's starting point
> Force gen one year.
> Dump the .p file from 2635 and give it to Coyote.

I submitted again per instructions, but as per instructions it was the same file as the first time. I didn't bother looking at the game files.
