I don't know if it's something I have done while reformatting my puter, but now every file that I get from AH has an additional ".m2" attached.
e.g. My current Moria turn was 'moria.m6.m2'.

Is this happening to anyone else. .... ??

I had this happening to me a few times, 4-5 years ago, but IIRC only when I was using the computers at university, since we were not supposed to mess with those I didn't really try to solve the problem ...
Something in your browser maybe? What are you using?

I probably should make it clearer, it's only AH hosted games, not non AH. Any game hosted by a person is ok.

So I find it hard to blame my browser.
But I'm using the latest Nutscrape, 7.02 I think.

I had that problem once, long ago.

I don't remember for certain what caused it, but it seems like it was related to something like file extension associations. If you've altered the file extension associations in Windows that might be causing it.

A second possibilty might be if you're using the "scan before download" option on some mail systems (like yahoo). Again, I remember some wierd behavior associated with that, but not exactly what it was. I'm more inclined to believe that the former possibility is a better guess, however.

Sorry I can't be specific since I had this problem once before. Old age setting in, and all those drugs I did in my wild youth arn't helping. Embarassed

Take comfort in the knowledge that I solved my own problem quickly, and I have never been a computer genius by anyones standards. I'm sure you'll work it out.

I had this happen a couple of times before myself. I'll be damned if I remember what cured it. It did go away though.

Laughing Most older people I know take more drugs now than when they were young. Just go to the pharmacy and look at who is standing in the lines. Ever read all the possible side effects listed on any drug you buy? This is more frightening than the problem you're trying to treat. "This drug will protect your blood vessels, but some side effects may include liver damage, ulcers, bleeding of the stomach, severe headaches, nausea and vomiting, muscle pains, weakness and dizziness, and possible brain damage." GREAT! I feel better already! Do you have any 2 for 1 specials? How do I get my dosage increased? Makes you want to smoke pot don't it? Laughing

I had this happen to me a few times but my situation was a bit different, maybe it will provide some clues for you.

Using Mozilla I was downloading a race file (either from the AutoHost site or a webmail as I caused it to happen both ways) and the save as dialogue box came up. I renamed the file as I was saving it (ie. the_race.r2 to be the the_race.r4) because I was assigning the player's numbers to their race files to make it easier to generate the new game. But when I went to the directory where I had saved it there were no files ending in .r4, there was though a file called the_race.r4.r2. I think this had to do with the fact that Mozilla was listing files of .r2 type when I was saving the file and I had not changed it, only retyped the name in the filename field.

Is it possible that Netscape is saving all of your turn files with the same extension? (ie. always ends in .m2)

Just a thought. Good luck!
