I created a race and it doesn't show in the "Player race" list when i want to start a new game. This means i have to remake my race every time i start a game.

The game remembers my serial and build settings however. Any help?

Hi ,

You have to create the game with the advance Option.
On page 2 you find the races in play.
Right klick to one of the blue thinks.
There us "Selfcreated Race" and open the saved Race file.

And you can play.

Here is a step by step description:

Open Stars!, clicking on the "New Game..." button.
Click "Advanced game..." (Ignore universe size etc on this page as you will get a chance to alter them in the next window.)
Click "Next >"
Right Click the blue diamond against Player 1 and Select "Custom Race".
If you want to design a new race click "New...", otherwise click "Open..."
If selecting "Open..." browse to the location your existing race file is and open it.
You can then set all the other game parameters you wish.

I save all my races in one folder so they are easier to find.

Beware the bug if you change an existing race file and save it under a different name. This can trigger a "corrupt race file" message so if you want to change a race best to start again from scratch. The bug can be avoided by using a race name not more than one character different from the original - IIRC.
