I suspect Ron is still fiddling with it which is why it is not enabled by default but if you go to Home/Profile/Settings and scroll down to the bottom of the page you can select a Stars! theme for the Forum. It is all black and has....stars

I just discovered it too.
Seems if you don't log in, you get the regular stars theme.. but when you log in, you go back to the white cherubs 
edit - btw, while you are still in the pristine space station theme, you have to go to Control Panel> Account Settings > theme.
Not rocket science, but just putting it out there.
