Hello all!

We are currently making a space game (not a traditional simulator, though - don't bite me for that!). It will be something between Star Control (best space game I ever played, thanks to Ryan!), Dark Orbit and (hopefuly) Eve. Our main goal is to make a great world, scenario and gameplay. We won't hide absense of the meaning behind amazing special effects, like in modern games (though indeed we will do everything to make our game beautiful and attractive).

To success, we will need support of space games fans: we spent all the money that we had 3-4 months before we can release our game. This is why we will go for Kickstarter, and this is why I'm prepairing to gather community (without your help, we will not success there).

In a week or two we will open our site with materials; for now, I've opened group with few ingame screenshots and concept-arts on facebook.
I'll be glad to see you all on the page and hope that you will support us - and together we will make a great game, full of oldschool spirit and soul.

Huh, looks interesting. I'd like more crunchy gameplay info, but the art is nice, as is your idea of modular shipbuilding.

Actual flight and combat gameplay mostly reminds Dark Orbit. We fly in the plane of the ecliptic; but difference is - we can change altitude at will (though it's barely needed - ship changes altitude automatically). In fact, ship can fly in any direction, so it's still 3D. Or 2,95D

I have one crazy idea how to make it even more intersting (flight model) and, at the same time, it will remain casual. This know-how we won't implement in first version, but probably will do it in MMO. Anyways, we need to test it first, since I never seen anything like this anywhere and it may be unusable.

About combat system - it's real-time fights. You click on the target and combat begins. We will make it more interesting as soon as add cannons AI. It will allow us to point many target at once and ship will aim on the 'best' (or weakest, or nearest - depends on it's current mode). This is in our roadmap and we hope to release it with the first version.

Beside that, there are very addictive resources grinding (last time our coders went to test it for 5 minutes and spent 2-3 hours instead); trading between stations and, of course, quests. Currently, I'm working on the global scenario and I'm quite proud of how it's turning out. I hope to resurrecct spirit of the old space games because personally, I can't play modern games - they are hollow, similar to most Hollywood movies. It's just imho, of course. So main goal of the game is to make new scenario and new universe that no one ever seen before. There will be something new, that I can promise.

I would like to see an alpha version before I even think of supporting further development.
I've seen and read too many cases where things fall apart on the road to a release.

With an alpha out, I would be more ready to involve myself in the process... till then, I'll see what your fb page evolves into.

(the other game for eg has a playable version out, before they started asking for player contributions.)

I used to curse when I got stuck in traffic... till I realised I AM traffic.

Thats a right point. But alas we are developing first versoin for iPads and Android pads; and alpha won't be available because of this.

All that we can do (and will do), is to record gameplay video, showing process. It will be done before we will apply to kickstarter.

Now, I'm just gatheirng heart of community, and don't ask of anything else. If you like - join our page and like us, if not - just wait, and soon enough you will play our game Smile There are players who are willing to contribute on this stage of development. There are players who won't contribute on any stage. So, I'm just looking for pioneers for our community, who will help us to make game better.

I certainly will as soon as we launch our site. Most of the answers will be there, some will wait for you to disciver it by yourself.

Some quick answers: began serious development in december 2011. About 2 months we wasted on getting used to iOS and development for first iPads (and optimization, so everything would go smooth even on first iPads). Now, we have playable alpha (no quest system yet).

Team is quite small - eight people in core team plus freelancers.

Expected time of release (iPad version) - beginning of q4 2012. Strongly depends on how things will go on kickstarter. If everything will go well - we will release android version and HD version at end of q4 too. MMO - can't say now, also strongly depends on kickstarter campaign.

Other questions - or later, or in game. I'm not big fan of spoilers, so likely only general information will be published.

spoilers would be mainly relevant only if it's primarily a SP game.. In a MPG, that shouldn't matter so much.

We will see if it will be possible. Not now though; probably after KS start. I have to discuss it with partners first, but even then we will need some time to polish alpha until we can show it someone except for ourself.
