I can't get this to work properly - the program seems to run OK but its window is tiny (totally unworkable) and the maximize button is disabled. I've tried it on Vista and Windows 7 but with the same behaviour. Anyone have any ideas about this, please?

It is small. On my screen it is about 100mm wide by 80mm high.

With the map behind and the main window in the frint it should look something like this:

Important is to fill in the race names in its singluar form. If the map is too small/large, adjust it in the map-window with SCALE MAP.

That makes it one of the smallest program displays I've ever seen! Now that I look at it more closely it does indeed work.

How good is it as a notebook and how many people do you think use it?

I do.
I love it.

Works fine for me, this is how it looks on my comp..

It is a pain to update information every year, so I do it every couple of years.

Wish it had an inbuilt year-cyclic map feature, to compare different years graphically though.
I have to export the image files and then cycle between them myself.

I vaguely remember SIR (strategic intelligence reporter?) did that, but I found it uncomfortable to use. Will try it out again now, come to think of it.

I suggest reducing your screen resolution if it is too small for you. The app was most probably made for a 800x600 screen resolution back in the beginning of Windows XP.
