I would suggest using SAH, keeps the hosting problems to a minimum. Dropbox is good for 3-5 players and when it's a friendly setting.
The game hosting utility is quite simple too.. After one of my games was over, I asked my game host to let me have a look at the hosting utility and found it quite simple to use.
Also, it keeps the files safe and secure.
Even if we discount file de-encyrption methods (where are you Xyli !!?), there are other ways to gather intel from the .m/.x files (just check the sizes. In reanimation check my .m5 file size.. I'm 11kb while the others are 7kb odd.. which means I have more intel and probably a bigger empire... )
Anyways to paraphrase, send Ron a mail and ask him to set it up.

Turn generation - well, initially we should whizz through the turns, so we'll try to get a couple a day for the first 10-20 turns if we can, but the formal requirement will be 'M-T-W-T-F, moving to M-W-F when requested', if that's OK with everyone.

With no AccBS and the other starting conditions, you'll be pretty bored for the starting 30-40 years iirc from my testbed hosted ages ago.

If (and with 12 players it's a *big* 'if') we can all get together online at the same time for a few hours next weekend (i.e. 14th/15th) we could blitz 10 turns or so, but that would need to be unanimous - if we can't, we'll stick with the schedule.

That would be ideal. Even a 3 hour play session will help breeze past the starting 20-30 turns.

Regarding the AR, are you sure you want to give them the option of not having BET as well as normal weapons?
I would suggest removing atleast one of the advantages given.
Not having BET would affect all 6 tech fields !!
As for normal weapons, they get 43%* cheaper weapons. From tech16-tech26, that's a massive advantage to be given !!
Seriously, I would be interested playing an AR in this game
If I see more than 2 AR races, then it would obviously mean that others consider the advantages a major incentive too !
Let me know the final call for AR by Monday if feasible so that others can also design their races accordingly.

(Of course if whatever reason another player(s) cannot then no probs) but for rest of players info, regarding as mentioned above, I am happy to have a set day set aside 3 hours or whatever to blitz through the first however many years.
For me it would need to be either a weekend any time or if a weekday I would need it to be in the evening after about 6pm (gmt).

Things are moving along fairly fast now
I'll get the Autohost game request in within the next 24 hours, and hopefully the game will be up & running within the week.
Deadline for race files to Nmid (thanks, Nmid!) is as previously announced - 07.00 GMT on Thursday 12th January.
I'm not seeing a strong surge of support for AR advantages, so they are now officially dropped. Having said that, if anyone wants to run an AR friendly/all AR game, please let me know - I'd love to participate.
Nmid, the only reason your race file in Reanimation is so big is that you've got a hundred scouts out!
Opinions on the blitzing of some of the early turns (this weekend or next weekend), please - even if it's to say 'no'. 'No' is fine - we'll know where we stand.
