 I have rediscovered Stars thanks to abondonia.com, I see a few out there that might remember me, hello donjon, hello Ashlyn, I will be relearning my old play over winter break, hope to join a game next month.

 Autohost uses 2.6 JRC4, players can use 2.6 JRC4 or 2.7 JRC3. As far as I know the only practical difference should be that 2.7 JRC3 has the option to use sound effects in the battle viewer.

2.6 JRC4 also has some additional functions for automated hosting and a longer list of banned serials, but that shouldn't matter for a player.

 looks like I have a banned serial, I originally purchased stars twice about 10+ years ago, I lost them of course, I was using serials I found online but the jrc4 is calling me a usurper (banned serial I guess) where do I go now?

He does ask a small donation, but US$ 2,- isn't much, and that will get you a legal serial (or as close to legal as is possible).

Yup, I did that on purpose when I uploaded that STARS! version to Abandonia.com. All those serials are leaked serials which were banned in the latest version, version that AH use.

Someone trying the game with friends and keeping the same version of the game up for download could then use the listed serials to play with friends and try the game this way. Smile
