I assume that means just before the deadline. That doesn't leave time for me to make suggestions for improvements to your race files, but that is of course your choice - And I assume that the delay is because you have testbedded the races yourself.

I am happy to see that you will be sending in race files, I was beginning to be afraid you were dropping out.

Thx 4 the offer 2 check race files but I don't think it's necessary.

I just sent a message to Taka with suggested races after our discussions. I think we have about 24 hours now right?

Hi everybody,

sorry for late beginning Embarassed, but Alex and me had a longer discussion about our setup, what was a little bit slowly because of different timezones and both are working. Thanks to Alex for running the tests! Cheers

Now it's done and finally I have submitted my racefile to Christian Smile.

I hope in the first years we will submit our turnfiles more fast Wink. Btw., I have suggested to Christian to change the time for turngen from 100 hours to 48 hours at the beginning. Maybe you drop a comment here, if you agree or not agree.

Christian, will we get a own forum for our game?

Regards, Taka Tuka

My race file has been PMd.

Ahhh.... I joined the game partly because there is plenty of time for turns. How about 60 hours (max) until 2470 & then 100 hours (max) after that?

I would not have joined a game at this stage under normal conditions. My RL is pretty busy at times right now.

I have race files from everyone now, so I will get a zip of the necessary files off to XyliGUN so he can do the setup. Hopefully it won't be long before the game starts.

There will be a private game forum.

Please give your opinions on the possibility of having shorter gen times at the start.

Sorry, I didn't know Embarassed. 60 hours would be fine for me as well. I would like to speed up at the beginning a little bit, because in wartimes there could more time be needed for all the communication and coordination. I was optimistic before to have most of the game done by end of this RL-year. I didn't watch for the turngen before and expected 5 turns a week at the beginning. Somebody who is able to read has some advantages Embarassed.

I too joined the game because of the 100h duration between turns. It is likely, initially at least that they will be done sooner, but I coudn't guarantee it. If AH is set to gen 100hrs after each turn, but without accumulating time if possible, that satisfies everyones requirements.

Hi All! Just got race files from craebild, but currently I'm in the country house, so I don't have access to my home computer and unfortunately I don't have Stars! toolkit on laptop, so I'll only be able to create/remap a game on Monday. Hope that works for you. Sorry for delay.

It would probably take a week or two if I was to do it with my more limited tools, so I am sure they can wait until Monday.

I'm apologise for not sending it on Monday as I promised, but that was really hard Monday for me.

Don't worry I have a copy of it on my work computer as well as on the phone and also on DVD, so it should be fine. Very Happy

Hi all,

I have received the game files from XyliGUN, and so far the game files seem OK, though I will do a little more testing.

I should be sending out a message to all of you (BCC to you, TO me) and the .xy and relevant .m# files to each team in a few hours.

@admins: Please do not lock this thread until the game is on Autohost and the private game forum is up.

Just a note: when Wheel of Life IV were created and remapped I was mostly use 'manual' editing (like open file, decode it, locate and fix some stuff, encode it back). But Wheel of Life V encouraged me to automate that process and I finally come up to the StarsPlanetMover (it works thru encryption, so I'll publish it as soon as turn verifyer will be ready), which can take any star with all its' content (including stats, minerals, HW, starbase, fleets/waypoints, messages related to that planet) and move it to the specified location in the galaxy. So, thanks to craebild for giving me a challenge. Smile

Do I gather then that you managed to apply the HW special status to the planet of your choosing? or is it that you've mastered the process of moving any planet around and not just up and down? Sherlock

I don't know what XyliGUN does, but my guess is that the name of the planet doesn't come along, just everything else.

That does means that the HW status of the planet (and everything else except the name) has to be moved to another planet ID#.

Well, you cannot apply HW status to more stars than players in the game, but it's quite easy to move HW status from one star to another one (technically speaking it's just HW id in player block and special bit in star block). And yes, I can now move any star (including HWs) to any location (up, down, left, right). I'm using command line tool that takes planet id and its' new location coordinates, then it updates xy, hst, m files, so I hope players shouldn't notice any side effects at all (let me know if you find any, I'll fix them).

The bits involved should definitely be documented for everybody to know. Deal

Great! Very Happy I gather you've overcome the limitations that the ordering of planets by coordinates imposed? Sherlock

I'm going to.

Planets should be ordered as required by xy file format, but this is not a show stopper for moving planets left or right. To do that you just need to update 'several' (actually all of them if you want the most left planet become the most right) planets IDs if you need to change their related x location, but when this done by code it's not a pain at all. Wink
