Yup, if that is agreeable. The teams are a bit static since the one team is father/son (good Wink ) and part of the reason for this game is so tat me at m.a can play in a team Razz

Very agreeable by me, as long as Mac1 is happy to play with a beginner. From a quick browse of SAH Mac1 is not only experienced in general but also has played AR at intermediate level - so will know both strengths & weaknesses in detail Smile

Many thanks to you & m.a for setting up this game, & for getting it moving so quickly - I thought I might have to wait a month or three before getting into a game.

Cheers

Carl

Well the first 20 or so will be slow and I'll give a week from the last guys saying they're ready to coordinate races.

WOW things are moving fast. I love the fact I can play this on my very portable netbook. Smile Been going everywhere with it and spending lots of time on the phone with my son, which is a great thing Smile Some ideas are coming together. Playtested my 5th race design until way past midnight last night and going to change things a lot for version 6.

But yes, please plan on us in this game. I don't expect us to do all that well as I'm finding all sorts of things I didn't remember, but we'll try not to be too easy. Some concepts just aren't coming back to me, sort of like starting over in different ways. It's like, I know there are certain things I should know, but just can't flush them out of the deep recesses of memory. Guess it's just part of getting old. Others have come back like a lightbulb, but a lot is still just WHAT??!! I finally decided to start from scratch on a race I've never played before, but always thought might be interesting. Since I seem to be needing to relearn things anyway LOL

Looking forward to the start. I'll be gone 4th of July week, but I should be able to find a spot to connect with my netbook, so no rush, but no need to wait if everyone else is ready.

Yeah, great toys, aren't they? I ran some of my first serious test-bedding on my NC10 when trapped in a Cambodian hotel by 2 days of absolutely torrential rain a couple of years ago.

There's 3 main rules you need to remember:

Deal always testbed 1st!
Deal when in doubt, testbed!
Deal testbed everything!

and a general guideline:

Deal have fun! Pirate

Alrighty then Smile Let's get this party started. I will give everyone 1-ish week to coordinate their races with their partners. You are allowed to play any race except CA. AR's are welcome. For the newer and rusty players: To co-ordinate races you need to cordinate habs so that each take half or so of the planets. The races should take different techs as cheap and perhaps even a race that uses factories and one that doesn't. But that and the rest is up to you Smile

Does that mean that there's going to be just the 5 Teams in a Large/Normal?

Damn. Have been resisting temptation. But it seems to no avail.

I'll make up a sixth team member if another would like to participate in an epic slugfest.

Who am I to stand against the power of epicness?

If we are going to go with 6 teams then I think a few things will change. Size will change to huge/normal? I think and we will definitely need to make provision for replacements. A game like this will take a longer time to complete and people's RL changes. New responsibilities and such can easily "claim" any player Smile

If any player or even team is not able to continue with the game due to RL constraints, we will endeavor to find replacements asap. No player or team should feel bad about not being able to continue. We have all been there and it's completely understandable. All that's required is a quick email or PM and the game will be on hold Smile

Of course if you want to come back then I'll leave that up to the replacement player Twisted Evil

So yea, anyone feel ready to experience the epicness of Allies and Empires: XL and unleash the fury?

Isn't that a big jump? Going from 10 to 12 players and large/normal to huge/normal? That's almost 300 more planets.

I see the ads for replacements now:
Wanted, replacements. Applicants need at least an extra 12 hours a week free time to do your turns. Likely more.
If you have a wife or girlfriend, say goodbye now, while you still have the time. Laughing

I had somehow overlooked the significant increase in planets... Rolling Eyes

Deal 10 players in a Large/Normal would get about 51 planets each.

Deal 12 players in a Large/Dense would get about 53 planets.

Deal 12 players in a Huge/Normal would get about 66 planets each. Pirate

Deal 14 players in a Huge/Normal would get about 57 planets each.

So perhaps we should limit ourselves to the slightly more manageable epicness of a Large/Dense, unless we can get a 7th Team to join for a Huge epicness. Dueling

Note: If we go for "Dense" it will affect the performance of many race designs, likely making more variations possible, but also rendering testbeds for "Normal" largely moot. Sherlock
