[sometime in the last few days] was Ron's (cough, hrmph, cough, cough)nd Birthday.

For those of you who might not know, Ron is the father of two beautiful children. One is two years old and named Daniel and the other one is six years old and named AutoHost.

We have all benefited personally from his commitment to keep Stars! alive and flourishing and it seems that this might not be a bad time to thank him for giving us this warm and comfortable home. I know that I have benefited hugely from his presence in my life and suspect that he has quietly touched many many lives over the years.

If you click on "postcards" in AutoHost there is a paypal link. I have never heard Ron ask for anything of us other than that we enjoy ourselves (and play nice) but perhaps a belated Birthday Present might not be entirely out of order. After all, doing "Thank You" is ever so much more satisfying than saying it.

I agree. Tight-fisted cheap bastard that I am I've never done it before, but I'm actually going to cough up a few bucks using that PayPal thingie so Ron can buy himself something for his birthday "from the Stars gang". There's enough of us here that if everyone donates whatever small amount they can comfortably do (even if it's only a buck or two, mine isn't going to be a huge sum either) it'll add up into a much larger amount, and he can buy himself something on our behalf and say "Yeah, my Autohost fans bought me this for my birthday". (Or, "I ran a free website for like, 8-10 years and all I got was lotsa love from a bunch of computer geeks, and this stupid tee-shirt.") Cool

Don't think "Oh, I'm embarrassed, money is tight and all I can give is a dollar, I don't wanna do that." Just do it. Smile It's not the individual amount that matters, what really matters is the thoughts, and the participation of many.

I'm going to make my own modest donation right now, and hope that everyone else does too. Ron's a great guy. Happy birthday, Ron.

Maybe one day I'll think of him at the same moment I see postcards for sale, too. Razz Getting away from the keyboard and out of the house though, that's the tricky part. Can't see any postcards for sale from where I'm sitting. Very Happy

I'M NOT AN EXPERT AND I'M OFTEN PROVEN WRONG. TAKE THAT INTO CONSIDERATION WHEN YOU READ MY POSTS.
Math? Confused Ummm, sure! Nod I do FREESTYLE math.

I agree. We should all pitch in a couple of bucks, which is just pocket change to most, to show our appreciation for all the many hours of dedicated service Ron has given us. If you don't have or wish to use a credit card and send him a thank you gift, you could get a mailing address and mail him one of two of your countries currencies. Ron would likely also enjoy having money from different parts of the world? Cool

Thank you to all for your kind thoughts, and for the donations that several have sent (3 so far)

Seeing money from different parts of the world would be neat, except that I would only be able to look at it briefly, as it wouldn't do me any good if I didn't convert it to US dollars. Cool
