Good, we are starting to fill up. Player list so far:

flamencowizard - (maybe, might have to take handicap)
nasobema
Stakmandoo
CrazyBS
Azrael
Egooo
dracul104
magic9mushroom
LittleEddie

That is 9 players, so maybe a medium normal universe would be a good setup.

I saw some comments regarding banning AR. I will remove that, if you want to play AR go ahead. I strongly suggest that those who are playing their absolute first game, don't take AR.

I am also thinking that flamencowizard should have a handicap, since he is the most experienced having won 2 games. It is kind of subjective what amount to set, so I will take a guess. How about 70 points set to defenses?

Also, clarification - mine damage dodge means the trick with using 1 chaff, correct?

Yes, this is correct.

Let's set a final deadline for players of Wednesday of this week and a final race deadline of Monday. It looks like we have enough players to start.

Is False Public Player Scores allowed, and if not, what specific actions count as FPPS? (as perfectly normal actions can falsify PPS, though obviously not as much as someone abusing it)

Also, presumably you're allowing ISB Trumps IT Gate Scanning, since you didn't ban ISB.

What about Exploding Minefield Dodge?

Hiya,

Just stumbled across this. I'm an old player from days gone by.

Never played against a human before only 1-player. Can I get in on this...

You may have to forgive me while I grasp all the acronyms.

::squeezes into the deadline maybe?::

Better brush up on my Stars!Skills.

Race files in by Monday Yeah?

Sorry about that, I was in a hurry and didn't see them earlier.

No, this is definitely not allowed.

I would think that if someone were doing this, it would be obvious from reviewing their turns. There is a difference from normal pop loading and unloading verses FPPS.

Nothing can be done about this.

This is not allowed. While it might happen through the normal course of events if it appears that this is being abused the player will be punished.

So WP1 load is allowed? (WP1 load decreases reported resources compared to WP0-loading them the next turn, without decreasing actual output)

What about honestly changing your mind after a WP1 load (say, if the planet you were going to take them to got bombed out)?

I've no intention of abusing the exploit, but I want to know what orders you're counting as FPPS.

K.

I'm just trying to avoid a situation where I might accidentally break a rule.

Come on, magic9mushroom.

We're all beginners here (at least everyone claimed to be one...). I would not expect ManicLurch to seriously punish anyone who breaks a rule accidentally. Plus, it shouldn't be too hard to distinguish "accidentally" from "on purpose" just by the context.

I wasn't even aware of some of the things you mentioned...

Lol.

Yeah, I may be going overboard. I just don't want to get accused of cheating.

yes WP1 load is allowed. There are plenty of legitimate uses for this. For someone who was trying to do FPPS, you would see this repeatedly over many planets on repeated turns. It would likely be obvious if someone were using FPPS verses a some WP1 loads that would normally happen during the course of a game.

If there were any cheating accusations (let's hope we don't go there, it is rare for that to happen on autohost games), the game files would be looked at and common sense would be used. If you aren't cheating, I wouldn't worry about it. Just play and have fun. Very Happy

Sometimes that is the best way to learn. You likely learn more from the games you loose than the games you win. You also learn more from playing against players better than you.

Send your race files to david#at#salempfg#dot#com

Today is last call for anyone else interested in playing. Let me know by the end of the day if you want to play. Smile

I have a suggestion for all the players in this game, especially for those who are playing their first game. Play test your races. Create a tiny universe with the same density and see how your race plays out. See where your resources, tech & minerals are at various checkpoints, like 2420, 2450, etc. It is better to find out any issues your race has in the testbed than in the real game. Very Happy

Well, we now have 10 players, so are we moving to medium dense or staying at normal?

Hey David/ManicLurch

Do we need to PW protect our Race files?

I think we should still stay normal. Medium normal is 288 stars, or 28.8 stars per player. Medium dense is 360 stars, or 36 stars per player. I think the 28 stars per players is more what a typical game looks like, so lets go with that.

Let's try to get our race files done by Monday.

Thanks,
David

Okay. I'm currently testbedding mine, to check for issues.

Are there restrictions on alliance size?

One more question on deadlines:

By what time (at each match day) do you expect our updates (and also the racefile)? Please also give the timezone (GMT?) to prevent confusion.

AutoHost tells you the deadline for the .x file when you go to get your .m file.

I didn't mention this in the announcement. Though we probably don't want this to turn into a 5 verses 5 game, those games aren't as much fun and can get tedious. Unless someone objects, lets say only one ally at a time. Also, this is a one winner game, no team victories.

For those new to Stars! diplomacy, there are several old articles written about it here:

Just scroll down to the section on diplomacy.
