Micha wrote on Tue, 20 May 2003 13:12 | I was wondering when and if people share their game passwords. Would you ever do that? Only when the alliance will last forever? Only when a shared victory is allowed?
Since I'm usually playing team games (in which all team members share the same PW) it's rather "normal" for me to make that step (not that I play many solo games, and I don't do it in every game), while it seems that for other players it's something they wouldn't consider sooner or later or not at all ...
I remember in the game I met Zoid (my first solo game), we formed an alliance to the end, I offered to share PWs and he seemed surprised and admitted that he hadn't considered that option before ... Of course that might just have been Zoid.
What are your opinions and thoughts?

| Funny, the way I remembered that it was my idea (but I'll trust your superior power of recall, since you remembered the game, the name of my race, all the other players, etc etc whereas I couldn't).
I still share passwords with any ally who is supposed to be a permanent ally. There's been one case wherein the alliance didn't seem to be what we had originally agreed to and I withdrew from that so-called permanent alliance, and changed my password. That game is still ongoing and relatively early yet, so I've not yet suffered any repercussions from the information exchange that I know of.
I find password sharing the ultimate means of information sharing. One can monitor the success of tech trades more easily and make the necessary adjustments without waiting for your ally to say "Oh, BTW, I got tech 14 in energy about 10 turns ago, so you can stop sending me those shielded scouts..."
Also, both partners can use whatever utility they prefer (Stars Notebook, Extreme Borders, etc) without the other conforming.
Additionally, Stars games tend to last a very long time, and inevitably it seems one of the partners goes on vacation (or "holiday", as you Europeans like to put it). Then the ally can cover your turns while your gone.
Remember that? I covered your turns for you while you were on holiday, you meanie, so quit picking on me! Grr! I shoulda crushed you back then, when I could of.
I'M NOT AN EXPERT AND I'M OFTEN PROVEN WRONG. TAKE THAT INTO CONSIDERATION WHEN YOU READ MY POSTS.
Math? Ummm, sure! I do FREESTYLE math.Report message to a moderator
