I have seen quite a bit of interest from new players, so I will host a beginner game. If you have any question on if you are a beginner, just ask. I would say if you have played no more than 2 games against humans you would be a beginner, but there could be some exceptions.

Universe size and density will be determined by the number of players who want to play. We need a minimum of 4 and a max of 16. I will shoot for 25-30 planets per player.

Game setting

- Distant players position
- AccBBS
- random events on
- PPS will be turned on after turn 20.

PRT restrictions
CA - Banned
AR - Banned
Joat cannot take NAS

Standard cheat disclaimer, which means that the following cheats are allowed:

- chaff
- split fleet dodge
- merge fleets after gating
- Mine damage dodge

Turns would be MTWTF until 2430 or someone requests a slow down. From there they would be MWF.

Condition of victory, highest score at 2500 or the game can end sooner by vote if someone is clearly winning.

Diplomacy and tech trading are allowed, but this is a single player victory only, no team victories.

I highly recommend all beginners take the IFE trait. There are ways to play around it, but I wouldn't try that for your first game.

I think if you have won 2 games against humans that would make you more than a beginner. It is probably time for you to start playing intermediate games.

Let's see what other players come forward. If they are absolute beginners maybe you should sit this out, though it would be possible for you to play with a handicap.

If no beginners come forward and more players with similar experience to yours comes forward, we can change this from a beginner game to advanced beginner game Razz

Most games AR is not banned. I banned AR from this beginner game because AR is more difficult to play. I thought that a beginner should get the hang of the more conventional races before trying AR.

 I for sure qualify as beginner. Just discovered this nice game a few months ago and so far only played a few games against the AI.

So I'll be happy to take a lesson by some human opponents Smile

 I would like to join this game. I am currently playing in the Big Vanilla, which is my first game. It should be ended in mid March, which should coincide nicely with this game needing more time each turn.

Not much activity on this lately. Do we want to wait for more players? Do we want to start with 3 players in a small universe? Do we want to start with 4 players, with flamencowizard playing with a handicap such as 100 points leftover on the race wizard set to defenses?

The 4 who expressed interest, please let me know what you would like to do.

 I think it would be more interesting with a few more players, so I would be fine with waiting a (little) bit. Maybe we could fix a deadline (like two or three weeks or so) and then start with the number of players that are in until that time.

I'm also OK with letting flamencowizard in.

What about the Fledgling Admirals thread? There seems to be a waiting list that might be worth looking at. Is there a way to contact that guys? OK, Stakmandoo is already here but there's at least one potential player left.

I only have played a few games on Local Network without knowing anything. After reading some Articles. I want now to play stars as it should to be played Wink

Your having played against the computer, i.e. in single player mode, is pretty much a requirement to start playing against humans, so if you haven't played against humans before, then you are a beginner in terms of playing against humans.

Do I count as a beginner?

Played three games against humans, but one of those was highly abortive (everyone gave up by 2420 or so, because the map was just too big) and the other two weren't finished either (All Quiet I dropped out of, and the other was aborted).

Why's AR banned? I can see why to recommend against it, but banning's a bit over the top.

Also, clarification - mine damage dodge means the trick with using 1 chaff, correct?
