Couple of years ago someone suggested a "Heaven" game where all worlds were centred to 50 - so every world was 100% (provided your habs were centred). I signed up but the game never happened.

So I was thinking of trying again - universe with 30-40 stars per player, standard density, all habs set to 50 (there is a editor that can do this) and max minerals ticked.

Idea is that every world is "perfect" in every way.

Players should be able to design some really impressive races and you have a lovely universe to expand in
- only downside likely to be some really nasty enemies

Anyone interested?

More like Hell than Heaven.

It should be a blood bath with everyone vying for the same planets.

With max PGR everyone will be shifting pop like demons to maximise growth and spread as far as they can.

IIRC I signed up too. I even suggested that if you were trying to make it a perfect set up for super monster races, all habs could be right shifted and centred on 90 clicks to maximise everyones RW point count.

Game name should be 'Heavenly Hell' then Wink

But if you leave the habs on 50, it gives people more options for race design - they can consider using imperfect habs to salvage some extra RW points, in exchange for needing to do some terraforming. I suppose it almost certainly wouldn't be worth it though, unless you were CA.

Having all the worlds at, say, 80, would exaggerate the bonus from having one or more offset hab... But probably still not worth it Smile

Hrm... There would also be some strategic advantage to having terraformed your worlds - it would make you the least attractive target for other races, especially if your terraforming had made your worlds look yellow to others. If you'd been able to keep up on resources, that is.

I'd suggest (much much) less than 30-40 stars per player. That'd be a fairly generous starting territory per player in a normal game. In a universe where everyone lives everywhere, 10-20 would probably be a lot more comfortable (i.e. not hitting fleet limit problems after just conquering one or two neighbours.) On the bright side, MM should be comparatively low, if all worlds will have the same (max) minerals.

I liked it on 50 as that was the "ideal" setting for all races, but yeah you could set it to 90 so each race gets maximum points.

I take the point with the number of planets - each fully developed world should produce at least 3-4K for the races. So even at 50% cap if you get your 20 planets you have a resource base of 40K. And you are right - properly defending and producing at more than 80 perfect planets you would really start to run into fleet limits.

Im having trouble getting the editor to work on my shiny new laptop - so might not be advertising this in new games that soon.

- I think the original was called Heavenly Hell

My laptop did let the editor work twice: then I decided to try an AR. After that, it keeps trying to add an xy extension onto any file I try to load. Bizarre. It doesn't work on my desktop at all. I think I have some security setting stopping it. I'm sure I could reseach the problem and sort it out, but it's more fun playing with my 16 month son Bob Multi bounce

With regard to hosting such a game, there should be folks who can get the editor working who can sort it out for you and this may be necessary if you intend to play in such a game too.

As to 40k for each race it's not just how much, its how quickly: with the centred habs in small packed, I was able to get 25k by 2420 and with habs set at 90 I was able to get 28k by 2420. Although I doubt the difference was due to extra points: I just had more experience building up so quickly. I did have more tech second time around though.
