Hi all!

Since "Anything Goes" filled within a few days as well and because I have requests for slots I can't fulfil, I will offer a third game using the same format:

No Holds Barred!

Please check the original post for "Rules and Regulations" for the (lack of) rules
http://starsautohost.org/sahforum/index.php?t=msg&th=440 6&start=0&rid=17&S=6dc00d9fd4be3d768de1862fd9118 bf8

The only changes for the present game will be:

Victory Condition: Player has the highest score after 100 years.

The game will only start if we have 16 players (I want it to be comparable the other two games of the series).

The host will not be playing.

Players from RnR I and II are welcome to try a third roll of the dice if they want to.
Very Happy

Regards,

AE

Is your new years resolution to try and host as many games as possible at once? Very Happy

I think the question is more like - how many "old guys" will come out again to play another game of stars with old aquaintances^^. Did you send the round-mail to the vaders too?

Hi Amanda,

no, not really. But hosting isn't that much work - if you don't play in the game yourself, that is. I'll be playing in two of the games - at the most. So I might as well offer as many games as there are interested players.

AE

Yes, the Vaders got the mail too...

They'll be playing in Anything Goes (RnR II). But if you want to play in the same game as them, I might be able to juggle things a little...

Regarding the size of the universe: If at all possible, I'd like all of the games to have the same format so as to make them comparable. But if the last one doesn't fill up, I might make it smaller. Medium, that is. Err... Well... You know what I mean.

I'm a beginner (owned in one game, currently in my second which I'm winning), so would it be a good or bad idea for me to join this? Razz

It's been over two long years since I was here last, but that old Stars! vigor has come to me again, and so I'm searching for a game as well. I would also like to join this game, Alter Ego.

Would you please clarify a few things though? On the second page for R&R 1 you said:

Quote:

Hi!

Repair after gating will be allowed.

Mixed fleets for sweeping are not banned.

AE

Does that go for this game as well?

And second, I didn't read all the posts for R&R 2 so I don't know if you mentioned:

Quote:

ISB trumps IT gate scanning
Improved Starbases makes gates invisible to some IT gate scanning. ITs can't see ISB gates with 150kT/600ly gates and infinite/800ly.
This may seem like a limited liability, however, there is often a fairly long period where infinite/800ly gates are the best that can be built, before the 100ly/infinite or infinite/infinite gates can be built. {quote LEit}
Note that the other race only needs the ISB LRT, they do not have to build a Space Dock or an Ultra Station to make their gate invisible, any hull will do.

To me this would usually only be a minor annoyance for an IT. On the other hand, it could be quite a pain for ISB races. Personally, I vote for letting ISB races build any gates they like.

My my 2 cents

No, CA is not forbidden. Please check the announcement for the original game (Rules and Regulations).

You have a slot, Iconian.

As to your questions: The rules stated for RnR I hold for this game as well.

Regarding the ISB problem: As far as I can tell, this is something resulting from the gates the IT race builds, not the race with ISB. Insofar, I see no reason to state a rule concerning it...

AE

OK, folks!

Let's try to get this one on the road as well.

Please send me your race file if you want to play in this.

I will try to let it start about a week after RnR II - Friday, Jan. 29th. But that's just a rough estimate.

Anyway: Send a race to reserve your slot. You still have time to submit changes right up to the end.

Regards,

AE

I've sent off my race file, so I think I should be good to go. Thanks for letting me play in a game again!

It will be interesting playing in a large. The last time I did was against the AI as a slow-growth HE I think. Boy, that sure was fun Rolling Eyes But this is normal instead of packed, which I think helps make up for it a lot.

For the ISB scanning:

Insofar, I see no reason to state a rule concerning it...

Ok, so anyone can build any gate they like then?

ISB bases are cloaked 20%. SS bases are cloacked 75%.

This reduced the range an IT can see a gate.

Of course 80% of infinity is still infinity!
