Hi all!

I do not like turning away players from a game I have offered. Since more than 16 players were interested in Rules & Regulations, I am offering a second game in the same format.

The rules (or lack of them) will be exactly the same, with two exceptions:

The universe size will be adapted to the number of players. If we get a full 16 participants, it will be large normal as well. If there are fewer players, the universe will be smaller so that we have approximately the same number of planets per player (~ 32).

The (formal) victory condition will be: Winner has the highest score after 100 years. Note that the winner will then actually be determined by vote of all active players.

The players of Rules & Regulations are welcome to join this game as well - if they're feeling bored and are up to two potentially long and arduous games.

The first slot is reserved for Dude.

Regards,

AE

I have not played stars! now for about 7 years !!! I think I have the original disk somewhere and will check it out tonight. If I have everything to start a game, I will let you know. But I am in if so.

Man I had forgotten about this game, I will definitely have to be in a beginners level again.

Wow, been a long time since I've played.

Let me see if I can still get the game up and running on my current system. I'm tempted.

I remember that name!

I may wish to play in this game to see if it is different from the other rules!

Important addition to the original announcement!

Please check the announcement for Rules and Regulations (I) about the setup and schedule:

http://starsautohost.org/sahforum/index.php?t=msg&th=440 6&start=0&rid=17&S=b62e20d16ff8c7d7cddb7048ca14c ac4

Players who would like to have a slot reserved for them should send me a passworded race file. Please do not let me know the PW!

(michael A T auwers D O T de)

I have files from 5 players. Two players have said they are interested, but can't start playing before the middle of January. Since a lot of people have other things on their mind at this time of the year, I will take this as my cue:

The game will not start before January 15th. (But not much later either...)

The name of the game will be: "Anything goes"

Regards,

AE

Hey Dethdukk!

Long time no speak.

Ok, I haven't played in ages, and I'm not sure I can get it running on my current laptop. But I'm now convinced.

I'll give it a shot this weekend, and if it works I'll get you a race-file in the next few days AE. If it fails I'll let you know, just so you're aware.

OK, here goes.

The following players have reserved a slot by sending me a race file:

  1. Stuart Douglas
  2. Mazda
  3. James Scoble
  4. Michael Didner
  5. Einherjock
  6. Amanda
  7. Jason Hissong

In addition, I have two 'definitely interested's and several 'maybe's and 'possibly's.

Since we won't be starting before the middle of January, the game might fill up quite well.

Regards,

AE

Okay! I got it running again. (whether or not I can get it running in a VM on my linux box is another question, but my XP gaming rig can certainly run it so unless we fill in the next day or two I'm in)

I'll get Stars! patched up to our current level (j? i?) and get you a race-file sometime before Wednesday. (I have an online d&d game tonight and tomorrow evening I run a weekly d&d game at my house) It's just possible I might be obsessed enough with this that I get you a race late tonight or tomorrow, after I finish my d&d games.

Now I just have to face a slew of choices..... JoAT? IT? UR cheese for quicker colonial startups? SD for micromanagement hell, AND tasty diplomacy bonuses since no sane person wants to tangle w. an SD. AR for just "Pure-Crazy"!??

So many choices.....

Sounds good!

AFAIK, running Stars in a VM shouldn't be a problem. Wine seems to work as well...

Patch J is right.

No need to hurry with the race file. I'm holding the slot for you as off now.

State of the Union:

Dude has sent me a race, he is now confirmed for slot 8. I wouldn't want to miss a game with the likes of Stuart 'The Pirate Lord' Douglas, Mazda, James and the others on this list, so I'm taking slot 9. Absimilard would be #10. Plus a few undecideds. I'm reserving 3 slots for players who showed interest but seem to have left for Christmas already.

That leaves 3 open slots - these will go to the first players to send me a race.

Regards,

AE

Ah, if it works in wine then I'll be fine. Easier than being bothered with a VM.

Which of course puts me back in the "what to play" boat.

I guess if a bunch of vets are gonna be in I'd best make sure that a returning amateur like myself makes a decent choice race-wise. Probably need to test-bed it a few times too.

Yeah, this is gonna be fun. Lots to think about.

Hi Coyote!

I'm sending Ron a mail now asking him to set up a private forum for "Rules and Regulations". The players will get a message when things are ready.

Well, a group of players like that can only be improved by having a braindead member, can't it?
Rolling Eyes

I'm giving you the last slot. Actually, I might have to drop out of the game if the three players I'm holding provisional places for all decide to play. But I could live with that as I'm already playing in RnR #1.

Players still interested in this game are advised that I am opening a waiting list in case already enrolled members change their mind. However, I cannot guarantee that those on the waiting list will be able to play.

Currently, the following players have slots:

  1. Stuart Douglas
  2. Mazda
  3. James Scoble
  4. Michael Didner
  5. Einherjock
  6. Amanda
  7. Jason Hissong
  8. Alter Ego
  9. Dude
  10. Steve Patrick
  11. Wayne Todd
  12. Christopher Riley
  13. Absimiliard
  14. Braindead
  15. To be announced 1
  16. To be announced 2
  17. To be announced 3
