Who needs the Marquess of Queensberry?
Who needs the Hague Convention?
Who needs rules and regulations?
Apparently, some Stars-players regard special rules set by the host as nice decoration, to be ignored at wish.
In view of this, I am offering a new game. The setup is as follows. It is not open for discussion. If you want to join, send me a mail with a passworded racefile. If you dislike one or the other point of the setup: Look for another game.
Large normal universe, distant player positions.
AcBBs and Galaxy Clumping checked, all others unchecked.
Number of players: up to (but not more than ) 16
Five turns a week (Mo – Fr; 20:00 GMT) until 2440, three turns a week (Mo/Wed/Fr) after that. Right up to the end!
No breaks for holidays.
Victory conditions: One player owns 10% of all planets, at least 100 years must have passed before a winner is declared. (See below).
Special Rules: NONE
Race restrictions: NONE
Players missing 3 consecutive turns will be set to inactive. There will not be a search for a replacement. If a player wants to turn his empire over to another player not yet in the game – i. e. look for a replacement on his own, he is welcome to do so. A player may not play more than one race in this game. Players unable to submit their orders for a limited length of time have to look for a substitute (not a player already in the game).
Bugs & Cheats: The bugs and cheats listed in the Must Know section of the SAH are banned! Split fleets and chaff are regarded as legitimate tactics, not as cheats.
If a player is suspected of misusing one of the bugs, I will ask a neutral third party to check. If the suspicion turns out to be correct, the player will be set to dead. There will not be a second chance. The same applies to players playing more than one race.
The Victory conditions stated above will turn on the public player scores in 2501. The remaining active players will then vote on the winner. In other word: the condition stated above is purely formal.
First come, first served!

Hi all!
There are a few other things I'd like to say at this point. No rules, no regulations does not mean "Anything goes". Cheating (misuse of the bugs in the game-engine; playing with more than one race) will be punished harshly. I'd like this to be a friendly game giving all players a maximum of fun. For that reason, I'd also like to point out that I expect the players to behave like gentlemen. Role-playing is encouraged. And if the role you have taken includes insulting the emperors of other empires - so be it. Personal insults directed at the real life player behind another role are something else and not the way to go.
I have been asked about the legality of pre-game alliances. There is no rule forbidding them. However, the host frowns when he thinks about them. I do not think that they are really in the spirit of a normal game of Stars. So: If you decide you only stand a chance by forging an alliance before the game, go ahead and do so. However, you should at least announce the fact when the game begins. This will not remove the frown, but it might reduce it a little. And make sure that it is an alliance - do not succumb to the temptation of one player playing two races. Finally: remember that there are no alliance wins - the game winner will be a single player.

I'm tempted to join, but I don't know whether to build a race for power or fun.

Hi Coyote!
That's exactly my problem. Maybe I should have thought of that before announcing the game. Setting up a lot of rules normally narrows down the choices correspondingly.
Oh well...
IT or SS?
SD or IS??
-f or HP???

This looks like fun. I can play races that are usually banned or heavily penalized (JoAT or CA). I have not yet played JoAT in a multi-player game. Unfortunately (or fortunately), Micha just set up my 2008/9 Duel Championship Final against Per, so my time is tight for at least the next two months. When is this likely to be set up?

I've decided to go for fun. Sending race in a minute.
Etit: I PM'ed my race file, then realized I wanted different LRTs so I had to go change my race and send the file again.

I would like to secure a slot please. I will work on a race file and send to you shortly.
What is the deadline for players? i.e. will the universe shrink if there are not 16 players? Or we will wait for 16 players?
