When you guys are designing Nubians. Do you use Flux caps to replace Energy caps 1 for 1, resulting in more firepower. Or do you match firepower and use the extra slot for defensive measure, ie jammers or Deflectors?

The maximum boost you can get is 250%, so using 9 flux capacitors would seem to be a waste.

Dude wrote on Mon, 07 September 2009 10:12 | so 6 flux caps gives you 220% exactly, there is not a stacking decline like jamming or Deflectors?

Actually,it's multiplicative.
So 5 flux caps gives you:
1.2^5 = 2.48832
Not much point in a 6th for the extra 0.01168.
As for normal caps, 9 or 10 are both good numbers
1.1^9 = 2.35747691
1.1^10 > 2.5
You usually see 9, since that's 3 slots of 3 on a nubian.

There has to be some decline. Otherwise 10 deflectors equals an invincible ship.
edit. or is the 10% recalculated each time. so first one takes off 10% leaving 90%, second takes off 10% leaving 81% and so on...

Just thought I'd note: the cap is actually 255%, not 250%. So the 6th Flux Capacitor is probably worth using.
