This is a good point, how would you like the teams remapped? The obvious choices are one team in each corner/quadrant/side, but how far into the corner? or how close to the edge? how spread out would you like the intra-team HWs? How should the HWs be arranged? I can pretty much put them anywhere you want as long as there's a planet there already.
Xardre would seem to want some control over this, so perhaps you might specify the center of the team groupings and a min/max spread. and leave it to each team to decide the HW arrangement.

Xardre may mean relative HW placement but I think he is talking about order of race #s which can make a strategic difference.

After playing with various permutations, the following player # order would seem to be roughly fair:(numbers indicate teams)
123423414312

It is very important for team bombing order, as Xadre mentioned.
A further explanation:
the highest player (closest to top or 1st) should be the CA if you have one to unterraform the world. Then only 10 defenses will be operated.
Then you can smart bomb, if you are so inclined (next highest player number)(2nd closest to the top)
The closest to the bottom them mops up easily with conventional bombs.

Whether a CA can turn an enemy planet red depends on the CA's current tech & the width of your enemy's narrowest hab band. If your team's CA (assuming you have one) took TT then the CA should also operate the teams's OAs for offensive purposes as well as for team terraforming but if the team decided that the best team result was for the CA not to take TT & another team member to take TT then the OAs should be transfered to that team member.
At higher tech levels all your team members could use OAs + cherry bombers very effectively against your enemies provided that your enemy uses at least one narrow band (< 30-clicks).
If you turn your enemy's planet red using OAs you will need only 50 Cherry minibombers in the same fleet to clear the planet in one year since the OAs deterraform the planet before conventional bombing.
I was going to talk about the effect of race #s in Wolf/Lamb tech transfers but I've run out of time - I'll see how I'm fixed tomorrow.

May I request that future posts regarding team design, such as player order within a team, benefits of a CA etc, be made in a new thread, preferrably in the Academy.
(this is not just to AlexTheGreat)
If any feels upto writing an article regarding team design or compile one after all comments that would be great as well.
mch,

Sorry Micha & Ron. I actually did think about posting it in the Academy.
Feel free to move it or I can repost it if you prefer.

Gible,
I am assuming that once the races are checked (thanks to Mark!) that he will send them to you for placement.
How do we as teams communicate to you how we would like the placement/order/secret bonus points placed and allocated?
e-note? e-snailmail? Call me on my cell?
Thanks!
Brett

If it becomes appropriate, any means will do - my email is freely available and more than a few players can contact me by chat however atm to the best of my knowledge teams don't get a choice. The last I saw was "positions will be mapped in the four corners like the last open war I dont know how to show example does anyone know the specifics of last game?" but not having played in the last game, I have no idea what that was. I have asked for clarification eg a picture made in paint showing locations but that was mere hours ago so I haven't got a response yet.
