If there's a planet receiving multiple packets at the same turn, how is it treated? Is each packet resolved separately, or are the packets treated as one big packet? I have to choose whether to shoot packets at my own world to get minerals there in time, and I have to shoot them over the rated speed. So I'm worried about blowing up my planet. I see three possible scenarios:

1. Each packet arrives separately, the planet's defenses are destroyed by the first, and the second does extra damage. This is a problem.

2. The packets are treated as one big packet and it does damage as if it was twice the size. This is also a problem.

3. The packets arrive separately, but the damage to the planet's defenses aren't 'resolved' until the end of the turn, leaving both packets defended against. This one is the one I'm kinda hoping for.

Any info would be appreciated!

Your Option #1 is correct. See section 5.B. of the order of events: http://starsautohost.org/sahforum/index.php?t=msg&th=238 6&start=0&rid=198&S=6b93a289fc58cbf7669718cef8be 5a64

The packets hit in order of age and launching planet ID. As they hit they take down defenses so that the next does more damage to pop. This is very useful. Search the site for "multiple packets" for more details.

Don't. Unless you have full defenses and a mass driver in orbit, are a PP race or just hate your subjects. Puppy dog eyes

Assuming you got a very good reason to avoid using freighters, you could try some "dodging": Uplift all pop to orbiting freighters UFO abduction so no one dies when the packet arrives and recolonize next turn, or have some freighters ready to intercept and siphon off the packet just before it actually hits the planet. Teleport

Alternatively, use Mineral Alchemy to get some minerals before outside supplies arrive. Whip

Alternatively, gate some useless/old ships and scrap them for their ore content. my 2 cents

are a PP race

I assume that was a typo and you meant AR? Razz

PP are just as vulnerable to overflung packets as everyone else. AR on the other hand can do what the OP is suggesting.

More like a mental slip, I'm afraid. Confused Thanks for spotting it.
