Hi all,
Any good suggestions when playing against a high growth factoryless race? What do Factoryless races fear the most? Specific suggestions for tactics that might shut down or slow the growth machine?
It seems that low production per planet could be a weakness that would result in weakened planetary defenses. How can this be exploited?
Thanks for your thoughts,
John

Factoryless races depend on growth to survive. Deny them that. Minelayers work well in this regard.
Whatever you do, don't get into a planet-for-planet war, you'll lose every time.

Greetings,
To answer your question there are a number of ways of slowing a -f Race. First off once you know you are up against a -f race contact your neighbors and create a border that forces the -f to fight for it's planets.
A good tactic to use before the -f gets to your borders get frigate range 3 ships with DLL 7 engines. These are cheaper than their cruisers, have both an advantage against beam ships (high shields) and missle ships (the low accuracy will act as a fodder to your large numbers, though when jihads are out this doesn't work so well...) and can act as a quick defense.
Like Coyote said Minefield along your boder to restrict fast movement and slow them down as much as possible, using your neighbors to further restrict its growth. Aim for their transports if you have the man power or after you took out their main fleet and try your best to counter design as best as you can while you try to gain better tech.
Other than that it is just a matter of slowing them down and working around their horde strategies. Once you got that down you should be fine.
Good Luck and Best wishes,
Stalwart
