i noticed that if you and a friend use the same serial code (or use a blacklisted serial) you get all sorts of random events. how about playing a game where you are a dictator and are constantly facing political instability. Very Happy

----Story plot----
The Interstellar republic is at the peak of prosperity. Universal Sufferage is highly valued in this 'free universe' where the leaders of all planets are voted by the population. Well most planets... except for YOUR planet.

You are a ruthless military 'genius' who recently 'liberated' your world (through a coup d'etat). You abolished the local parliament and democratic government. Executed the republic representative and declared yourself emperor.

Thoguh you 'know' what is best for your people, but unfortunately the people of your planet doesnt recognize your wisdom and leadership. Doing what is best for your people and the future of your race, you turned the planet into a police state. erecting interrogation camps and execution sites and re-education camps. Over the course of years, you effectively 'restored order' through execution and persecution of all your political oppositions, forced labour and military parades. your oppositions just never seem to die off, fighting in name of 'democracy' which is just some republic brain wash propaganda. The Interstellar republic frowns upon you... but you're not alone.
----------------------------

Game rules:
All players must use an invalid code. where all players will experiecne politcal instabilties THROUGHOUT the whole game.

Random events:
-freedom fighters (Rebels) destroying infrastructure
-reduced production (-20% i think)
-reduced growth rate (-20% i think)
-a small amount of ships refusing to comply to orders (once in a while [this ruins your stragetic attacks and bombing runs XD just like CE])

It's a whole new set of rules. what you defined in your race wizard is not what it will be shown in the game. it really requires adaptablilty to play this

i wonder who would win in this kind of game.
(or better question, would a game like this be impossible to play? or just a new level of challenge?)

It would be a pain if you were playing any other games.
You would have to keep switching between "invalid" and "valid" serial.
And if you forgot you could seriously cripple yourself in the other game.

nice idea though

interesting concept

By the time you realize how steep the curve is, you will be using five types of calculus to get to the market. You will then need three different calculators to perform what you once considered basic arithmetic.

The thought comes to mind about an old post Iztok put up on the alt.rec.comp.stars newsgroup, where he mentioned using a batch file to change your serial number by swapping .ini files. Unfortunately, I'm unfamiliar with batch files, or I would hack something out and make a quick guide for players who're interested in this sorta game.

Oh, and the reduced production is -50%. Happened to me the other day, before I got my own serial number.

Or ALL ships refusing to move Shocked 3. Had that once, when I've been messing with my home-made turn at work. Uh Oh And ships selling their cargo, and defecting... Hit Computer

Nightmare I tell you! Where do I sign for it? Wink

I suppose that my biggest question would be, are we all using the same serial number, or do you know a number of blacklisted serials we can all use?

I'd honestly love to play this, but I'm unsure as to the demands on my time already. If you absolutely need a last player, or need a replacement, hit me up.
