I use mostly windows PCs, but I have an old laptop with linux on it. I don't think I have wine on it yet, but does anyone have advice for running stars on Linux? (Thinking of my holiday plans when I will be traveling...)
Or point me somewhere where this has already been asked?
(Should I check SBD or usenet archives of r.c.g.s?)
Also,
I use Win98, 98SE, or ME for stars, but does stars work ok on XP?
TIA,
Mike Nixon

I never use Windows for playing Stars! anymore, and have used Wine for months with the game. Wine natively runs Stars! with very few problems. The only problem I've had is that sometimes a window will lock on, and then you need to save and close your turn before reloading it. But this only normally happens once or twice a month. I've had no stability problems or crashes of any kind.
I did have some problems with the battle viewer on version 2.7. I suggest you use 2.6.
Hope this helps
