For some reason in one of my games Autohost insist that my .x files are corrupt. The strangest thing is that in my other game everything is fine.
Anyone have any idea why my .x files are corrupted, and how to solve it?

P.S- I hope that's the right forum for this... Smile

As far as I know the .x file just contains your moves for the current turn. Deleting the .x file and redoing your turn should solve the problem.

Stars! itself does not have problems with the .x-file? If not than open your turn, delete the .x-file, save+submit again and you have a brand new .x-file without redoing all your orders.

A reason for corruption might be save+submitting a lot, although AutoHosts still accepts such turns but some orders are not carried out, so different problem since you don't get the notice that the turn is corrupt.
Another reason is because of a hack? Wink

Maybe more something for the Bar since the question is not about strategy, tactics, ...

Acutally, its JRC3 that has that bug with the multiple Save & Submits... but IIRC it doesn't get flagged as corrupt, but appears to work but orders not carried out.

It's the hack that do this?! Shocked then how I"m supposed to win?!
J/k

The problem happened twice, in two following turns, so I don't think that deleteing the .x files won't do a thing. And I don't use any hacks, changed exe files or anyhting like that. As I said, my other game works fine.

Hmm... when I think about it... I do have a small "j" in my stars opening screen.... Razz

Seriosly though - HELP!!!

I assume the game with the corrupt turns is going on for a longer period of time already? Or are it really the first turns that both are corrupt?
You might want to check what you did in those turns, although I really doubt it has something to do with the orders you gave in the game. Probably more an error while saving ...
If it happens again I still would try to delete the .x-file and save+submit it again (with the game open to not lose your orders), just to see ...

Don't know what else could have happend ...

mch

Be sure to close any file-sharing or music-streaming programs before you generate your turn, that seems to corrupt .x files too.

Hmm, I had something similar. That message that I got was, that I was a Usurper and blabla the rest. We went back to the last year that went well, I deleted my x-file, made a small adjustment in one of the queues (+ 1 mine or something) and submitted/uploaded. After the regen everything worked fine.

Maybe worth a try (if the gamehost and the rest of the players agree). Playing on with a corrupted racefile is no fun anyways

Ah Surprised do you mean that a game genned with jRC4 does not has that bug even when the .x file is saved+submitted from a jRC3 version?

I know that the changes in the 4 are only on the host side, so maybe the .x file a 3 and a 4 file are identical and the version doesn't matter? Confused

I had a similar problem at one point, with stars insisting that my .x files were from the wrong game. Turned out I had somehow corrupted my .xy file. Once I downloaded a fresh copy from autohost things worked fine.

Hope this helps!
