NEW busy player game:

- Busy Players: SECRETS -

My experience out of a former ‘busy player’-game was great. No valuable time needed for diplomacy or communication or bargain and no group-gaming ... And, there was enough time for doing the turns, even for busy players with 'time consuming RL' Rolling Eyes.

But, some players chose wrong race/prt or had wrong neighbour-race in short distance. So, at least they had no chance to win the game at the very beginning (even, if they didn't know that at this stage of the game Twisted Evil ). I want to avoid this disadvantage at the beginning (the change of the balance of a game further on) and I want to play SS race, which has disadvantages comparing to many other races. Because of this reason, SS is not chosen very often by players.

In this game - Busy Players: SECRETS - ALL players get the EQUAL SS-RACE and know, that all the other players have the same race-design as well Twisted Evil. So, the victory depends more from skills of the players, to handle this race and these special circumstances and, of course, a little bit from luck by good location, good planets around and less skilled neighbors - like in every stars!-game Very Happy.

Because of equal race conditions, there is no starting advantage by better race design possible. IMHO this kind of game depends more from tactical skills during the game. There will be no one, who has at least no chances at the very beginning of the game.

So, skilled players (intermediate and above), who like to play this special game, are wanted!

Game conditions:

• # of players: 6
• Skill level: Intermediate and above
• Ranked: No
• Universe size: Small, Dense, Distant Starting Positions
• Version: 2.6rc4
• Autohost: Yes
• Turn generation:
up to turn 10 = 24 hours between turn-generation Mo-Fr (because, NO ACC BBS).
up to turn 25 = 48 hours between turn-generation (including weekends).
after turn 25 = 60 hours between turn-generation.
If the majority of the players want, a further reduction to two turns weekly is possible by poll.
Always: turn-generation faster if all turn-files are in.
• If you need a hold, just ask the host - please do so at least two days before the turn-generation!
• Host is playing: No – Does anyone volunteer to take over the HOST?
• Starting conditions: NO ACC BBS (More slowly development at the beginning, but bigger influence and more options for the players during the first years), NO special events (wormholes, MT, …)
• Victory conditions: Last Man standing or consensus

Special Rules:

• NO cheats (except chaff and split-fleet dodge)
• all players have to be set to "enemy"
• NO alliances, NO tech trading, NO NAPs, NO coordinated attacks
• NO communication at all - INgame or OUTgame

The SECRET race design:

SS
IFE, NRSE, OBRM, RS (no ISB - very fast expansion is more difficult Cool )
18% PGR, habit 1/4 (0,15g - 7,52g, -104°C - 200°C, 70mR – 100mR)
1.000/1.000, fab. 11/9/14, g NOT checked, mines 10/3/12
all tech but bio = normal, bio expensive, start tech3 NOT checked

The game intends to start around two weeks after host and players are founded. I or the hopefully founded host will send the r-file of this race to you. Open this file, change name and symbol of the race and create a password. Save the race-file with a new name. If HOST is known, you can send your race-file and password to the HOST.

Any comments?

Anybody, who could take over the HOST, please?

I've hosted hot seat games, a PBEM and played here on autohost a few times, this looks like a perfect opportunity for me to learn the ropes of hosting here on the autohost with a nice low maintenance game like this. I'll be your host if you'd like.

Hi Kelzar,

thank you for hosting! Now we only need to find players, who like to play such a (unique?) game Smile

Question 1: You have low end grav limit listed as ,15.
There are technically 2 grav clicks that yield the ,15.

Question 2: Pending the above answer you would surrender either 54 or 49 points to the race wizard (you don't speak about where excess points would go) whereas a 19% PGR could be afforded and still have excess RW points.

You are right: I have bio at "normal", not at expensive. So the players can discuss, what to do Wink.

I have no points left. So, if you set bio to normal, you should have the answer, which grav klick was wanted Smile

Taka Tuka

I have sent the race file to you by pm!

Hi Dashiva,

I would prefer to play with intermediate players or above to keep the game balanced at the beginning. If you never have played against humans, it seems to be not the right kind of game for you.

May be you'll find another beginner player, you can play this game in duell-style with.

If I don't find intermediate or above players, I'll open the game for beginners.

Sorry so far ... Sad

I'd be interested in this if I wasn't in a bigger game at the moment... The concept is interesting.

I'm not very sure. Together with you we would be three and, may be, four, if Dashiva, a beginner, joins.

I'd like to start the game, if we will be as minimum four players. If there won't be a fourth intermediate player untill the 15th of may, I'll ask Dashiva to join.

Will you agree?

The list will be:

1. Taka Tuka
2. Patrick
3. Downsider
4. (Dashiva)

DEADLINE will be the 15th of may!

Hi
I’ll join to play. But I have questions – must I create racefile myself or not and will we use autohost?

Even though the races will be carbon copies I would suggest you send the race file (and password) to the host, that's me.

Reason #1, you can pick and maybe get the race logo you want.

Reason #2, it will actually be less confusing for me when I assign the player slots and return to each player what their Player# is.

I am, unless otherwise directed, intending to rename all races according to their player# to ensure anonymity. I would recommend that all ships/starbases be named as generically as possible for the same reason.

Edit add: Yes we will be using the autohost

I'd like to join and play - hopefully I made it in time!

I am at least intermediate - a bit more on the advanced side. If Dashiva wants to play then we should allow it - but up to you. At least way back when, I got a lot better when I played against more advanced players!

Hi Bretter,

welcome to Busy Players: SECRETS!

We have passed the deadline. So, the host, Kelzar, is waiting for all reace-files. I think, he will tell us, until what time he will accept race-files at latest. Please, create the race-file as told above. The forgotten 50 leftover-points should be invested into hab, imo. But to do that, will be part of the work of our host.

I've forgotten to list all players.

The players will be:

1. Taka Tuka
2. Patrick
3. Downsider
4. kalzekdor
5. Dashiva
6. Bretter

I would suggest, 20 - 30 planets per player should be the right universe-size.

If anybody has changed his mind and doesn't want to play anymore, please tell as soon as possible.

Taka Tuka

Here is the problem with keeping race names, two of the race names are the same as the players screen name. Kinda makes it difficult to keep with the theme of Secrets. So either I will need to know from those two players what to rename their races or I could just rename them myself (which I really would rather not do). Would those two players please PM/email me with another race name that I could apply.
