The MT is tired of travelling blindly for decades through space, never knowing when and where customers show up. And he heard enough of "@#$%!, i gave 9800 kt for AMT crap".

So he sells his stuff befaore universe creation and so he does not need to trade further he sells licences.
But payment is in race wizard points.

Game settings:

8 players
skill level: experience with MT parts and their usage in multiplayer is helpful, so intermediate preferred
medium normal distant
no random events
public player scores in y 50
turn gen 5 days or 7 days a week(host often without access at weekends, but doesn't play)
no playing host
no accbbs(vote(changed))
leftover points have to be spent on defenses, unless left over points are >45+price for MT parts.
winner by consent
(no restrictions on PRTs)
Edited to add: 3-4% HEs are forbidden - they have so many points, that they would screw up the whole bidding process. 5% and higher HEs are ok.

Either 0 or 1 turn done by host, therefore accbbs would be possible, if player want it(changed)

For sale are:

Multi Contained Munition
Anti Matter Torpedo
Hush-a-Boom
Alien Miner
Multi Cargo Pod
Jump Gate
Multi Function Pod
Langston Shell
Mega Poly Shell
Enigma Pulsar
Mini Morphchanged
Genesis Device(not tradeable)changed

Sold is the ability to build the item when the required techs are researched and the right to the item.
This means, that only the buyer may have design slots containing the item

(This is because paying lots of race wizard ponts for hush-a-boom and then the enemy gets it in the first battle, where he shot down just one mini bomber is unfair.)

and those the buyer permitted to have slots using the item. About any such permission the host has to be informed, upon which the host will publish in the game forum on autohost, which race is now allowed to build which item, but not who gave the permission.

(This is, so that the diplo power of certain items can be realy used, but so that it is still easy to spot cheaters, but also so, that who bought which MT part has not to be revealed earlier than wanted)

Permissions can be retracted with a ingame message with a 10 year period, so if in 2435 the message is received, all design slots containing the item have to be removed in 2445(and host will check in 2446).
e.g. if player bought items for 100 points, he can either have 100 or more points left and has to spend them on defenses or he can have 145 or more points left and spent them on anything.

(this is meant to discourage players from not buying anything and then allying with others to get stuff and then destroying them.)

Please pm me about taking part before doing any bidding, bidding should only be done by people who realy join afterwards, so no dropout if you realize you crippled you're race by paying too much.

Auction is done at the bar (http://starsautohost.org/sahforum/index.php?t=msg&th=338 1&rid=264&S=1a5fb2b144d2598e70daeb47bd83b48d&pl_ view=&start=0#msg_32003) and will end at 12.04(earlier end possible if all 8 players ask to do so), so results will be known on 13.04.
Auctioning is done by sending me and stating what bid is done for which item, -1 for items you are not interested in or just leave them out.

New bids and old bids confirmed will be displayed at least once a day around 12.00 my time, which is if i think correctly 11GMT(currently i have 12.00), more often if there is hot bidding.

Highest bid obviously gets the item.

Then 2 weeks for race creation, submitted races must have price for bought items leftover spend on defenses or 45+price leftover spend on anything(to allow for strats that need leftover points e.g. -m-f race with alien miner and OBRM).

To keep the spirit of ebay:
In the first week of the 2 weeks after finishing of official auction, individual players can make auctions with bought items at the bar, with any offers and bids being posted there.
Host has to be informed by how much the point penalty of the buying player is increased at the first day of next week, by the same amount the penalty of the seller will be lowered.

This is meant as a safety hook for risky bidders, who want to disrupt certain strategies, by bidding for certain items without wanting them.
If they accidentally get them nonetheless, they can sell them at the bar to get something for their unwanted stuff.

Every item will be sold only once, every player can buy any number of items, items will be giving by modification of hst file in turn 0.changed

Therefore no minerals will be received either.changed

When all races are in and confirmed, playing of first turn by host will take a few days, then game will be sent to autohost.changed

Please do any discussion about sensible prices in the ebay thread at the bar and feel free to spread any false propaganda there to modify prices in your favour - convince them it is sensible to pay 100 points for the multi cargo pod or 300 for the MPS and win the game easy by buying nothing.

Edited to add clarification of leftover points.

edit to change game description for newly learned method to give MT parts to players.

Would it be a possible issue, that races would get techs from scrapping components? It seems that especially with components that require lots of techs (i.e. MCM) races could get free tech in addition to MT parts.

Not a problem, because either techs of components are made 0 for first turns or it happens only 50% of time, so i just have to regen twice as often.

You can also make the mineral cost 0, so ...

Quote:

Any scrapper ships will always contain the maximum amount of MT parts possible(or 50), to reduce regenning for host.
This can lead to serious mineral effects of certain components and an effect of UR. E.g. the one buying MCM will get through scrapping about 1000 kt of Bor, MPS will give about 600 kt iron and 200 kt germ.

... would not be an issue,

Changed a lot due to new method of giving players MT parts.
Therefore accbbs is possible.

Changed might still be the tradeability of genesis device.

Hope now its simpler, just bid for part and you'll start game with it, independent on srts or prts.

I would vote for accBBS.

You might also consider making it a large universe. Most of the MT parts need serious tech and if the goal of the game is to employ the parts, players will need time to build an economy and research the requirements before beating each other to death.

Here are some opening bids to get things started. (You will probably want to keep the current high bid and bidder updated in the first post so we know what is going on.)

Item RW points bid
------ -------------
Multi Contained Munition 1
Anti Matter Torpedo 1
Hush-a-Boom 1
Alien Miner 10
Multi Cargo Pod 1
Jump Gate 10
Multi Function Pod 1
Langston Shell 1
Mega Poly Shell 10
Enigma Pulsar 10
Mini Morph 1
Genesis Device 1

You should send private bids to Carn directly rather than posting them here !!!

There is an MT Ebay thread in The Bar (slipping down a bit) with the latest highest bids.

Most items have rather early tech(10-14) and their usefullness quickly declines with higher tech.E.g. en22 shield is better than langston shell, nubian and superlatanium make MPS less useful, when we aproaches 26 you will not impress anyone with AMT or MCM.

Also this is currently with 8 players still around 32 planets per player, more increases chances of dropout due to MM.

he might think, that player intend to play a race in need for remote miners, gating cols and cargo or gating at all and mid game war fighting boost.
And he doesn't care about factories and doesn't worry much about long term mineral production.

This would allow a guess about the intended race designs, therefore i think keeping bids anonym is better.

Of course you can post you're bids or post some bids you claim to have made to confuse the others about you're intentions.
I will pm players once a day which item they currently have highest bid on, but i will not correct any false statements someone makes in the thread in the bar, that thread is meant for spreading questionable information and discussion -
That might generate more interest in game, will keep the thread at top and is normal business competion.

So far 4 players, so 4 more are welcome, please pm me and post here(i will be off next week and that way others can see, if there are free slots).
If 8 players are there auction might end 1 or 2 weeks sooner and game will start sooner.

No new players, but 5 should be enough anyway.
Anybody can still join till game starts in about 3 weeks, but bidding will finish in 10 days.

Game will be still normal medium, as small packed is a bit crowded with 5 players.

Quick question

After the game starts are we free to trade ships with MT parts in them to other players without giving them the ability to produce the items themselves?

Sorry for the wait, I would like to get in this game if possible at this late date, I have finished my reasearch, however, I was unable to find a guide on the mini-morph, nor have I ever gotten one in a game. I have no idea what it is, or what it does. would somebody mind enlightening me?

giving just a few ships to another player, which are still useful, although they have little number, e.g. a few jump gate ships or a few with penscanning items, but not giving enough scrappers to actually get the item.
this is possible, just declare, that he has permission to build, give the ships, but do not give enough for scrapping.

what is also possible are further ingame treaty restrictions between players. sample treaty;
-party a gives official permission to party b to build/have mps
-a sends enough scrappers to b, so b gets mps
-b promises to equip only frigate, scout and galleon hull with mps
-b breaking last promise allows a to retract permission for b to build/have mps without effecting any other treaty between a and b

of course such a treaty is not checked or enforced by host, like any in game treaty, but as the retraction of a permission will be enforced, such treaties should be reliable. after all with treaties one should always watch whether the treaty is kept and therefore in the above case, b is unlikely to break the treaty, since the moment a spots a single bb of b with mps, he can make sure that b has to delete the design slot 11 years later.
(e.g. a spots ships while playing turn 2444, then b will 'officially' get the retraction statement in 2445 and has to delete slots in 2455)

but the only thing done due to game rules is the permission to build and have designs with such items, because then it simple and easy for host and players to check - if a player has a design with something mt he should have a permission, otherwise he is breaking game rules.

its ok, send a pm with you're bids, before monday, you may also bid for nothing.
the thread with current highest bids is in the bar.
remeber, that bidding uses the ebay version, so if price is 5, this just means, that second highest bid is 4, highest bid could be anything. if you then bid 6 and the highest bid was 10, price rises to 7 and the other one still gets the item.

there is a downloadable game somewhere, with 16 maxed tech races and mt parts.
mini morph has 10 general slots, it is a weaker version of the he meta morph. i'm not disrupting the game by saying it is one of the items i expect not high prices.

I was thinking of actually building ships and trading them with another player. Like trading a dozen Jump gate galleons for a number of alien miners. Neither player has to build anything they are not allowed to build.

Also saves on scrapping.

I think that maybe i worded it wrongly in some posts, from game rules:
"This means, that only the buyer may have design slots containing the item and those the buyer permitted to have slots using the item."

So the permission is not about building, but about having a design with that item.

I choose this rule, as it is rather safe against cheating and does not require much work, because i only have to click through the design slots of a player and not keep track of number of ships and specific traded designs. And also player check each other rather efficiently, because just a single detected "cheated" design would be enough, but whether someone has 5 or 10 jumpgate galleons is difficult to know.

So you can trade ships, without trading so many, the other party gets design by scrapping, but you have to give other player permission to have slots containing the item, which includes, that he can also make new designs with that item and build them without braking the game rules.
