Good day to everyone;
I have started to develop a web page listing the different Primary Racial Traits and their associated technology gifts and limits as well as the LRTs and their associated technology gifts and limits. I was wondering if anyone has seen this already done somewhere else, and if anyone would find it useful?

The current (partially developed) webpage is at:
http://homepage.usask.ca/~tjl128/engr/stars/tech_levels.html

I will be updating this over the course of the next two days as I find time.

Don't think I have seen a list like this, but then I must confess to not really looking Smile

It is a good idea, but as you've got the Resources and Mass, it may be a idea to stick the Mineral costs in a column as well?

Isn't this info already in the tech browser?

That is correct! Cool But I am looking for a quick way to determine what research fields I will require most if I am playing a certain race with certain subtraits. Therefore, I am creating these tables so that I do not have to go through the tech browser again and again trying to figure out what a races advantages are and what a subtraits advantages are and how they will go together. Confused

It may be, that this is not useful for anyone else, but since no one has posted that they have seen it anywhere else, I will probably continue working on it (at least for my own benefit). Wink

One problem with that information is that the mineral and resource costs of a part vary with the degree of miniturization that the race has achieved. If he quotes the "base cost" it doesn't really reflect the highly reduced costs of some parts later on in a game. The same applies to quoting "max tech cost".

The mass of the part is constant however. Thus such information is useful for those trying to work out the ship designs of opponents based on ship mass and whatever other data on their technology one has.

Greetings All,

FurFuznel: You may want to look at http://www.students.uwosh.edu/~bushd25/sdb/index.htm

Though this site isn't the identical of what you are looking to make but a generalized version of it with reference to specific articles from the forum.

Hope this helps,
Stalwart

I don't remember seeing a list like this either (except maybe in an excel file I downloaded).
I can see its usefulness to someone new (many more experienced players probably remember from experience what they need to know).

Recommendations:
Make the Special Features column wider (it seems to have the most text)

I think this is a lot of columns. If I were creating the list, I would probably combine the Tech fields and use abbreviations like IS Jammer 10 as "2En, 2El". But if the columns are easier for you thats fine.

I think I would sort the list by highest tech required per PRT
Like for CA, The OA (Orbital Adjuster) will be available much sooner (at the start actually), vs the Retro Bomb at level 12 Bio.

Hmmm... looking at it again today I would have to agree with you. I will try to fix that later today.

I agree with you about it seeming like a lot of columns, this is due to the unnessacary width of the * Level columns. I think that I will use abbreviations for those and make them much narrower.

Ah, yes sorting the list by tech level required instead of by the order that I came across them in the tech browser probably makes much more sense. I like that idea as it will provide beginners like me with a quicker sense of what tech levels are required. I will probably do that at the end once I have input the "toys" for all of the races and lesser racial traits.

Thanks you very much for your feed back, it will prove to be quite helpful.
