I agree that wormholes would unbalance the game, so yes to "no random events". Does this mean "no MT" as well?

I figure wormholes would be like "hidden valleys" that troops used to move un-noticed, since Wormholes are also known to vanish without warning. Mystery Traders would be like meeting someone from the far Eastern empire, and getting some advanced technology from a merchant, who then buggers off to sell the same technology to your enemies... Comets would be like volcanoes exploding, spreading riches into the surrounding area.

That's just me, though...

We have arrived at the deadline time. However, I'm waiting for a response from Donjon so I will leave things open until I hear from him. New players can still join if they're quick & race files can still be modified for now.

I will post the close off notification & send a broadcast PM as soon as I hear from Donjon.

We have 11 players (lefnufrag has not responded yet).

In the meanwhile, 2 players have expressed interest in allowing Random Events. Tho I'm opposed I will hold a ballot.

The starting position is:
RANDOM EVENTS: Yes: 2 (Crappicus,Mark) No:2 (Me,Staz)

I'm chaning my opinion on slow tech- it would remove some of the whole advantage through tech... that period kinda happned before and during Alex's time, not during the period of regression afterwards.

I'm 'yes' on random events.

Lefnufrag has sent me a PM & still wants in. He has been away from his computer & will remain so for 2 more days when he can rush in a race file.

Even if I get a response today (which is probable) re. a replacement setup guy, he will need to collect everyone's passwords so I think there's enough time.

Thus, it seems that we'll have 12 players after all.

BTW I have switched characters from Perdiccas to Ptolemy - I figure that since Ptolemy was such an important member of the Diadochi someone should play him.

Glad my holiday finished when it did. I was the no response on everything (sorry) but I'm down for whatever. I'm happy with NO slow tech and open scores after 2480. Rather not play on weekends, and I'd rather small alliances. As for random events, I'm all for it.

But as I said, I'm in the game to play.

Donjon is due back from Belize in a few days tho now so I'm confident that he can do it then.

A special Note: It is my understanding that AH accepts only players using Stars! 2.6 JRC4. If you are using something else then please download that patch level at http://starsautohost.org/files/stars26jrc4.zip. This is true even if you are using v2.70j (the commercial version) which was never patched to JRC4 - for anybody concerned about that, I believe that the only significant difference is that 2.6 has no audio.

Do you need to reenter the Stars! serial code if u switch from 2.7 to 2.6?

Donjon is due back soon. I sent him everything needed to perform the game setup a few days ago.

What I can't know tho is whether everyone has PMed him with their race file password.

I'm keen that there is no holdup in this regard so could everyone PM me if they have sent their password to Donjon - DON'T TELL ME THE PASSWORD THO just let me know that it has been sent. That way I will know if I need to chase up anyone.

Also, I asked Donjon to ensure good mineral concentrations (If he has time to do so) - I suggested a mininum of I=65,B=50,G=65. If any of you object to this let me know.

Alex has kindly asked if I want to participate, and I've said yes. I trust it is not too late. I've sent a race to the relevant parties, pw to donjon, etc.

Not that I wish to change any of the settings, but for the record my votes on the offered questions would have been -

yes to slow tech
no to public scores
yes to weekends
no to random events
max allies 3

I've no strong opinion on any of them, however, and I'll readily go with what those who were early or on time, have agreed.

Does everyone realize what a large game means in terms of time?

The only possible change to the decisions above would be if both Tomasoid & Lefnufrag both voted Yes to RANDOM EVENTS.
