Hi!
I'm following the development of another turn based strategy game Galactic Civilizations. The game could be described as Civ in space and is single player only. The game became famous by its good AI that doesn't cheat and can build quite a good economical base for its expansion and war. But at warfaring it wasn't so good - any Stars! intermediate player was IMO able to defeat it on the "intelligent" level, where it plays without any bonuses.
The sequel - GalCiv 2 should change that in a great extent. Lead AI developer Brad Wardel has put significant effort to make AI realy strong in designing ships and using them effectively (single and "combined arms"), when played on the intelligent level (full AI modules, no bonuses). For those interested you can find more info on its web site www.galciv2.com .

Thanks for the info Iztok,
I took a look and it seems quite impressive. I'm wondering if it's a little too graphics heavy on the battle side but, we'll see. I do hope they release a demo version. One of the reasons I like Stars so much is that it isn't graphics intensive. It's more of a galactic chess game.
