Hey All-
It's been a long time sense I visited this site. I'm a long time Stars! vet, and have spent many many hours trying to conquer the universe. Stars! is one of the games that I'll always remember and love.

Anyhow, so I recently plugged in my new Xbox360 and was checking out one of its cool features – Xbox Live Arcade:

http://www.xbox.com/en-US/livearcade/default.htm

If you have your Xbox hooked up online you can download some pretty fun games for between $5 and $15. Some are old school arcade classics like Smash TV, Joust, and Gauntlet, but there are also some brand new games. One of my favorite games for the new system is Geometry Wars – a simple, straightforward Asteroids style game that's really fast paced and fun.

So I was thinking – this Xbox Live Arcade thing might just be a great place for Stars Supernova Genesis! I don't know anything about software development, but from what I understand the Xbox is very similar to a PC – so it might not be too hard to convert Stars over, and it seems like the integrated Xbox Live features (friends lists, messages, and chat) would make multiplayer pretty seamless. I know playing Stars on a console might sound scary to some people at first – but I think with some clever controls it could function pretty well. There are a few other turn based games on consoles to draw from. Plus with the Xbox 360 supporting High Definition TV you can achieve the same level (or better) of graphics now that you could only receive on a computer monitor in the past.

I don't know how feasible it is or not, but I just thought how wonderful it would be if it could happen.

Any thoughts? Anyone else out there have a Xbox360 and know what I'm talking about?

For that matter, even a straight port of the currently playable Stars! Game would be great to have on Xbox Live Arcade!!

I have no idea what you'd have to do to get a game on Xbox Live Arcade, or how we would get Jeff to do that, but maybe some of you could help?

Dan

Hi!
There is a quite long topic on RGCS, where one of the developers of the Stars! Supernova explained the story about its development and passing away. Topic's name is "Stars Supernova Genesis Beta", but is currently displayed as "Material distribution". I strongly suggest you to read it, before you get any illusions about further S!SNG development or porting.
I'm deliberately using such strong words, to also kill my illusions. Sad

Link please? I have also always been hoping for Supernova and never given up hope.

Although I must admit my heart sank when mare crisium dot com was not working anymore.

Do you have a link to this post? I would love to read the absolute latest from the developers or from anyone that is in the knowhow.

Cheers.

Chris

In an earlier post in the Bar the following links were posted

If you want to find out exactly what happened you can read this:

I checked and these links do have information. There was also a post by one of the developers and co-owners of the code with a description of what happened - you can find that here:

Though we often ask how and why, we must also do to get the answers to the questions.
