Scattered tribes are all that remain of a once great and benign empire. Driven by dark prophesy, the rulers of these nations have struggled to regain the stars, seeking knowledge and riches that are buried beneath the ruins of an ancient capital at the galactic center. One of these leaders is destined to resettle the Throne World and inherit the reins of power to an entire galaxy ... the rest are destined to die trying to stop him.

[My apologies to Star Trek fans for the mangled story line.]

Rightful Heir II
Registered version - 2.7; J Patch will be used.
Medium/dense universe (360 planets) remapped into a six-armed spiral galaxy.
Distant Player positions.
Slower tech advances.
Accelerated bbs play.
No public scores.

This game will be played with 8-10 beginners/intermediates including the host. An independent third party (thanks Kevin!) will run Universe Creator to relocate home-worlds away from each other.

Special victory condition: At the beginning of the game, the players will be notified of the planet that sits closest to the center of the universe. After year 2520, the player that occupies this world for three consecutive years will be declared the winner.

Turns will be generated five days a week (Monday - Friday) at 07:00gmt using Stars! AutoHost. The gen schedule will be reduced to 3 days a week once micromanagement gets too burdensome. Gen will occur early once everyone has uploaded their files.

All PRTs will be permitted. I've gotten over my phobia against HE, so go ahead and make me anxious about them again (grin!). We had alot of players selecting IT last time since it was a large universe; perhaps we will have more variety this go-around.

No pre-game alliances and no formal alliances during the game are permitted. The players may negotiate border agreements and NAPs, and may conduct trade. Mutual defense agreements and coordinated attacks are outlawed. Players may not set another player to "friend" during the game. There will be no alliance victory.

Roleplaying would be appreciated but is not required.

Review "Player Exploitable Bugs" in the Bugs/Features section at the Stars FAQ website (http://www.starsfaq.com). Host allows chaff and the split fleet dodge. All other features listed there will be considered cheating, though the JRC4 patch that AutoHost runs should make some "bugs" moot.

Any questions can be emailed to me at grimferth@attbi.com. Your race file acts as your reservation ... don't forget to password-protect it!! Once the roster has been filled, the players will be asked to forward their passwords to Kevin so that he adjust the home-world placement.

Is anyone else having fleet location problems? As of right now, I'm chalking it up to UC corruption or something...

problem: my fleets are located @ home planet, but when I set a waypoint, it originates at a point 460.66 ly from home planet

This happens in remapped games.
2 ways to fix it:

1. Before host sends files to players, he scraps all player ships.

2. Each player must give movement orders to all his starting ships telling them to move to the planet they are 'already' orbiting. After the next turn gen, they will be just fine.

The problem stems from the remapping of the galaxy which messes up the planet index values.
