Accually, I was hunting for old games on the internet lately, and I found what I think is a Supernova version. I think it was Version 0.6, or something like that. The description box under the download said that it was, and it seemed to know what the original Stars! was, so I tried it out. It was Zork. Or rather, it was a space version of Zork, so it may just have been the makings of the start of Supernova. It was in text, and started like this:
You have been working on this planet for many years, and think it is time to work your way up to the top. There is a bar to the north, east, and west.
I was very disapointed, I had leap for joy and scared my cat to death when I found it, so I promptly deleted it and now don't know where to get it again...
If you cannot love, you will always hate, and in hate there is only death.

I still load and play it from time-to-time. The tactical battles are, even today, fantastic. Nothing else like it, even in its early Beta form. MOO3 has the same sort of idea, but not near the implementation.
I still check the old SSN addresses. I have faith that someday Jeff will publish it....
