It's interesting that you seperated the United Kingdom from Europe... I always thought UK belonged to Europe, as parts of Russia do... Rolling Eyes

Andreas / wizard

I noticed that too! Shocked

But then, I think that if the whole island could "up anchors" and be slowly pushed away from the European mainland, the majority of the population would be all too willing to help. Rolling Eyes

The major distinction is this;
Breakfast.
Here in the UK, it's cornflakes and milk.
On the European mainland, it's cold meats and cheeses, topped with chocolate sprinkles. Confused

Also, our tobacco products are 10 times the price of similar products on the mainland. Just like our alcohol, houses, cars, holidays...... Doesn't it fill your heart with national pride? Cool

Do you mean the UK population or the mainland population? Twisted Evil

No no, it's either chocolate (or marmelade) or cold meats and cheeses. Perhaps one after another but NOT at once. And several people do have conflakes and milk too, and some have eggs, and some don't have anything at all for breakfast...

Well... I already noticed that going to England is very expensive. I haven't been to the other parts of UK yet... But why should I be pride of that? Your holidays should be cheaper, as you can go to other countries Wink

Tourists from Great Britain are real enough people. Rolling Eyes They order unusual local foods ... so locals make them something that is considered *unusual* locally.

Sure its at some places to make jokes of poor tourist.

In other places it is for pure profit. After tourist has tasted sausages with honey he donates these back. He will probably try something else too and later even maybe visit your brothers restaurant over the street. Hes having a truely sweet tooth. Wink

It's amazing what you can come up with when you have run out of money, and there is very little in the cupboard. Laughing

My housemate invented some spaghetti/apple/chocolate sauce dish yesterday evening. Confused

Surprisingly tasty.... Shocked

This is acceptable. As long as the dinner is of a "take-away" origin... Preferably something that purports to come from a country a few thousand miles away.... Very Happy

Recently re-discovered one of my child hood favorites: a slice of bread covered with butter to make the chocolate (mmm ... chocolate ...) vermicelli (not sure about the translation) stick on it and on that a layer of banana slices ... and another slice of bread (squeeze a little to make the banana a tid bit mushy and more sticky so the vermicelli doesn't get away) ... yummie!! Nod

Like usual ... bread, butter, ham, fried eggs ... milk.

Moderators are fairy tale monsters? Laughing Probably elsewhere. Here you should adopt more of that science-fiction thinking. Wink

Very Happy

Some domestic "foreign food" restaurants really do tend to take massive liberties with their "authentic" menus....

I think they adopt two approaches.
(i) The "Yeah.. that looks alright.. stick some more seasoning on it... maybe that'll work" approach
(ii) The "They'll never know anyway" approach.

In many instances, this is often followed by the "running for the bathroom" approach. Or rather, retreat..... Wink

Cool
