Hi,

I've played Stars! a bit in the past and came across it again whilst I was ill over Easter. A few of the guys at work are also into Strategy type games so I'm thinking of trying to get a game going at work. Things have changed a bit since I last played though and I have a few questions:

a) Does anybody have a copy of the final framed version of the Stars! Strategy guide download zip they could send me? The Crisium site was up on Friday when I first looked but now it ain't...

b) Am I right in thinking that all we need to install on the machines is the 2.6JRC4 .exe from Autohost on each machine with the 2.7I help file to have everything up to date?

c) I have a serial number from 2.7 - will this work on 2.6JRC4?

d) Where's the best source of serial numbers these days? Cheapest is always best!

e) What's the waiting time for getting games hosted on Autohost at the moment?

f) Is there anything else going on that you think I should know about?

 a) Can't help you here.
b) Yes.
c) Yes.
d) I'm not sure anymore. Xplosiv seems to have taken it off their website and rumor has it Stockman's isn't responding anymore. There's a thread in the Academy with links that *used* to work...give that a shot. If those are both gone, well, I can't help you there.
e) 3 or so days from receipt of files.
f) Not offhand!

d) How many do you need? I bulk-bought a load a while back, and I still have... *checks* three left over.

e) My esteemed colleague mentioned 3 days in the above message... I think that is being a little optimistic. I would allow 2 weeks max for setup

No waiting list.
i.e. you don't have to wait for another game to finish before yours starts.
However Ron isn't always instantly available to set up games the day you send them.
I guess you could be lucky and get it up in one day, or might have to wait up to 2 weeks.

You could always try a duel in the meantime !

 I will sell you three serial numbers for £16.
If you put postage on top of that, I'll send you the CDs too! Very Happy
(otherwise, I'll just have to destroy them or something, I suppose! Shocked )

I bought some in bulk last year.
If I don't sell them, then they'll just sit around collecting dust..... Cool

Have to add another message regarding this.
I've had, what I would describe as, a large amount of interest regarding my small but perfectly-formed stockpile. Rolling Eyes

Here are the definitive words on the subject;

I have THREE new & unused Stars! CD's with unique serial numbers.

I have decided to sell them for UKP 5.50 each.
If you want the actual CD also, then I would require postage on top of that.
I've also checked one of the CD's, and it does include the manual.

This is not an auction. Wink
