Does anyone know;

a. What causes a player to start appearing as 'Not in the correct game' (phrasing may slightly off)?

b. How to fix it (without restarting the game)?

As further info, the player gets told that 'Stars is loading n years of data' when he opens the file.

The player in question is reasonably savy, so I don't think he's just managed to get games confused. He also had the same problem a couple of turns ago and it was fixed by my deleting the .xn file in question, so it showed '... are still out' and I generated a turn. He then applied that and all was ok for a couple of turns. That hasn't worked the second time.

I'm manually hosting the game and sending all .mn files to a outlook express list of all players. No other player has reported any problems.

Grateful for any advice.

Thanks,

CJ

What version are you using? I vaguely remember something like that was a bug in "i" when a player missed a turn ...

I think most of us are using the j-rc4 version...

There's a section on Autohost for downloads....
Have a look on;
http://starsautohost.org/kn2050.htm

You should be able to find what you need there...

Hi,

I think I've seen that warning when a player has submitted a turn from the wrong gameyear, i.e.: He opened an old .m and built his .x upon it. I don't think Stars allows genning in that case, as it will wreck everything. Shocked

OTOH, if you can generate, that player should carefully check his new turn and see if everything went ok as planned. Confused

Hope this helps.

Did a quick search on the newsgroup, found a list of fixed bugs:

***
Stars! J Beta 4 12/7/98

FIXED BUGS
==========================================
<snip>
0028 Host message that player is "not in right right game"
***

Several other reports about this popped up as well.

Storm already answered that. Smile I'd say safest to use is the 2.6jRC4 ... (make sure ALL players are using it)

In that case the message would be: "not in the right year".

Heh, you're right. It's been years since I saw the last of these... About when I downloaded Jrc4, in fact. Sherlock
