Hi all!

As many already know, a new strong contender arose in the Freestars forum as "best-fit" for planet habitability calculation. I tested all the planet reports I had on hand against it and found it 100% accurate. Cool That means 6 planet reports holding around 1500 planets.

But I believe 6 race designs (some of them close cousins) are too few to make the study complete. And alas, I don't have time to generate a dozen+ testbeds in order to collect enough planet information to fully exercise the new algorithm.

Fortunately, I can ask for help Smile. I'd need as many planet reports as possible, together with the hab range info (preferably without Grav ambiguities) on the race that generated them. NewReport format would be best, but anything listing Grav,Temp,Rad & actualHab could be useful.

Any volunteers? Please zip your reports & PM them to me Very Happy

I've got some old games files of which I could make some .p# dumps, would that help? I can send those along with the races of a turn file so you can check out the habs (or I can note them down myself),

Hi!

Yes, that's what I need. I'll use the grav, temp, rad, hab columns of the report to check if the new formula faithfully gives the same numbers for hab as the report, as it did with mine. For that I'll need hab info on the race(s) that generated the reports.

I'll probably do some testbedding this weekend, too, but the testing should be far more complete with others' input.

Thanks! Smile

Planet reports etc. should be with you shortly.
Hope they're of some use! Smile

Thanks, but... I need *newReports* format, which includes Grav,Temp,Rad info on each planet.

Hi,

After processing a wide bunch of my own and donated planet reports, with wildly varied race and planet parameters, including immunities, terraforming, et al, with perfect accuracy, I think we may call the "new" algorithm robust enough and "the" best-fit. Very Happy

If anyone knows about any particularly hairy [race hab / planet stat] combo that could strain the calculations to the limit or even make them fail, please let me know. Shocked

FYI, the new rewritten/simplified algorithm can be found in "The Academy" http://starsautohost.org/sahforum/index.php?t=msg&th=229 9&start=0&rid=625&S=62b194884d95536d356513bee477 dc30

Many thanks, & C U @ the Board!
