Cool. Now if we could just teach the gaming community to lay off the FPS games and switch over to Stars! Sad

Nothing for now.

Dominions II is sucking up more and more of my time. Very good game. Actual support for bugs. Major releases are turned into a new product. So, there is a revenue stream/incentive for the programmers. Yes, you have to buy the game again every 2-3 years, but I'll just buy one less crappy game that comes out, to compensate. I'm OK with that. It means that a game I like will continue to evolve, and be supported. Dom III is expected out next fall, and will have graphics update, and will add a few nations, along with a bunch of tweaks. So long as they don't screw it up, by dumbing it down, or pulling a "Super Nova", everyone will be happy.

If the Jeff's had resold the game at every other major release #, they might have still been in business. My total investment for Stars has been $20 for 8 years of entertainment. While I love the fact that Stars is the biggest bang for my buck out of *anything* I have ever owned, I would have rather have paid $20+ bucks a year for full support and patching, along with evolution of the game.

Heck, I spend more going to a movie...for 2 hours of hollywood crap. Confused

You make very good points, plus your reference to Dom II in an earlier email has had me looking it over rather strongly. I have a $25 gift card I need to spend on something, and I'm weighing between either Dom II or Rome: Total War right now. It's about time for a new game.

I work with 3 friends that are long time Stars! players. We split a 4 pack of stars lic a *long* time ago. All 3 stopped playing stars, for the most part (although I can drag them back occasionally). 2 of them just purchased Dom II after playing the demo and listening to my rants over lunch. Smile

Also, 1 of them has decided he doesn't like Rome: Total War...

If you like Stars, then you probably shouldn't go for R:TW. They appear to have taken the Shogun: Total War franchise and sucked all the strategy out of it.... It's kinda fun, but there's no depth and is one of those games that is way too easy even on maxxed out difficulty settings.
