At-large qualifying duels may be fought to any standards acceptable to both players... There are no limitations to PRT or LRT.

CA PRT seems potentially much stronger than any other in a duel. I see unclearness in how statements above with this.

Will everyone play CA? Will people ban CA from their individual duels? Is CA not as hot as I think it is in a duel?

You'll find that almost nobody will be "proud" to win with a CA.

But they "will" still win with it....Proud or not
That doesn't help the loser.

If it's a tournament and one option is stronger than the others, I'd go for the stronger option unless I knew for sure that my opponents wouldn't.

In this case, if the 2 finalists are CAs then the winner will still be proud of their victory. I wouldn't want to be one of the roadkill that got crushed on their way to the final just because I didn't take the "easy" option.

Either ban CA (which would be my preference) or assume that everyone else will choose it. If you are confident that your SD (or whatever) can beat everyone else's CA then go ahead - you will feel even better about your victory if you win.

chagarra, I'm curious, you played the most (recorded) duels, how many times did you play CA? And/or if you don't want to answer that: how many CA's did you came across?

I suggest a qualifier to that question for better results.

How many duels were played with CA not being banned and of these how many had a CA?

(I believe CA tends to be banned as part of duel negotiations)

Out of those 23 losses, I would estimate that 15 were to CA, 5 alone to one player while I was trying to learn to cope with CA.
I have played CA 3 times, 2 wins and the last marathon capitulation to mazda after 94 turns.
CA is beatable in a duel, but you've gotta be real good to do it, since a CA monster in even average hands is still formidible

Multis..

After a certain point, it becomes necessary to learn to cope with all races, In the early days of duelling I tried to limit the use of CA.
This only made it much harder when you did face one.

I by preference chose to restrict my use of that race to players I felt were capable of handling it. That didn't stop it being used against me.
And in most cases, I lost to it.

Still hasn't stopped me duelling. Win lose or draw it's still fun.

Which was to an IT.

BTW, didn't you play CA against me in our first duel as well ?
(in "last years" tournament)

I've only played 6 duels, and only faced 2 CA's (assuming I'm right about the above statement).

The competition ran fine last time with no restrictions.
There will always be best/easiest race to play.
If you ban CA, then that makes JoaT top of the pile.

I suspect that the players who are good enough to win the competition won't use a CA.
