No problem, just scrap all the starting ships and orbit in a standard set of freighters. How will you hide an AR colony ship?

Erm, AR would be apparent.... no pop scan on planet.
Thats a problem.

Easy: give it a non AR colony ship! Nod

I think Steve suggested to scrap all the ships and put the pop in freighters in orbit, along with a colony ship. That way you can hide the AR PRT. However hiding IT and PP means you'll have two worlds ... so you'll have to gather the transports to one world ...
In the last turn the host recolonize all HWs, rebuild the base, rebuild the ships etc. You'd have to move back the pop to the second worlds whic will be seen though.

Why go through all that trouble? The setup will take enough time as it is. Although the above is a different way to preserve pop/minerals/research at the 2400 level. Yet a bit more MM I would say.
I haven't seen the serie but I assume the Ancient races would know about the lesser races for some time? Right? Why else would they be ancient? Also this gives the Ancients an advantage in the search for allies, why not let them have that?

Yeah, I think I have to agree... The Ancients should have basic info on the races, in fact, they probably have more info on the races than we can give them than the initial starting ships. But we will leave it at that Smile

BTW: I was not planning on lifting all population from planet, It takes quite a while for most races to replace their initial starbase... I will lift all but 400, and then upload their extra pop to the freighters.

If you want each race to start out from scratch at 2500 then you'll need to upload ALL the pop.

400 pop at 18% PGR for 100 years almost fills the planet and enables you to mine a healthy amount of minerals too as well as research at least 5 levels of energy tech.

Why not zero cost the rebuild of a starbase?

Also, is it ACC BBS? If not will you be managing the pop to make it effectively an ACC BBS start?

Last question for now. Will you be setting battle orders to attack enemy only for everyone?

No, not neccesarily...
You just record starting mins and pop setting of the races then reset to those value previous to end of Phase I, at intervals you pop into each race and upload the pop, and you set the planets to do mineral alchemy. The extra mins received at the end are divvied up by the host races.

That would require Phase I being run on my computer and off of autohost... an option surely, I have run games that way Wink But I would rather not.

Hmmm... lets see... Does it say in the universe definition that ACC BBS is checked? No! Therefore all races will be starting with 25K.

Yes, that makes sense, we wouldn't want the Ancient scouts destroyed upon visiting...

Well, as you can see, we have six lesser races, presently there are two potential players, and one other sitting on the fence...

I will not start the game with less than 10 lesser races, and ideally there will be 12.

I know the logic is a bit fuzzy (I'll likely be many LY away form earth), but can I be FreeMars that has sucessfully declared independance instead?

Final Boarding Call for Babylon Five

We now have 9 lesser races, if you have been sitting on the fence considering, now is the time to commit. Laughing

We still have room for up to three lesser races, and the Centauri hasn't been taken yet!!!

Players who have committed, its now time to start working on your race design if you haven't already.

regards,
donjon.

Present Status

Hi Friends, well it looks like we will not get 10 lesser races,
so I am redefining the VC's for the Elder Races slightly (only needing two allied races.)

I have been going through my mails and checking and confirming races. This is the results:

Babylon Five Races (Ancients)
Player 1:Shadows:OK (race meets criteria)
Player 2:Vorlon:OK (race meets criteria)
Babylon Five Races (Lessers)
Player 3:Earth Alliance:OK (race meets criteria)
Player 4:Hyak:OK (race meets criteria)
Player 5:Narn:OK (race meets criteria)
Player 6:Ur Quan Kohr-Ah:OK (race meets criteria)
Player 7:Drakh:OK (race meets criteria)
Player 8:Pak'ma'ra:OK (race meets criteria)
Player 9:Llort:OK (race meets criteria)
Player 10:Minbari:OK (race meets criteria)
Player 11:FreeMars:OK (race meets criteria)
Player 12:Drazi:OK (race meets criteria)
Player 13:Markab:OK (race meets criteria)
Player 14:Centauri Shocked 3 :OK (race meets criteria)

OK, we are up to 12 lesser races, all game positions are filled.

The game will be reredefined Smile to 3 lesser races in the Ancient alliances.

I will be in contact with all very soon.

regards,
donjon
